Heya

Any1 know if one is able to get a sound card with multiple microphone inputs, and if u do where from ?

thnx

If it is for music apps / recording then there are a lot to choose from, there are somethings that you have to avoid if you want to do Hi quality recording

Also depends on how many inputs you want

If quality is not that important, just put another soundcard in and use software that can handle multiple soundcards

what you are looking for is a mixing desk. You can get a smallish 4 track to a biggish 16 track depending on what it is you want to achieve. (you can get bigger mixing desks depending on how much boodah you have)

the mixing desk would then plug into your line in on your s/c.

Well, you can use up to two microphones on all sound cards that have a line-in separate from the mic jack, including my pile of SoundMax integrated audio.

If you need a card that can take more than two microphones at a time then you will need to fork out a considerable amount of cash. The Creative E-Mu range (drool) generally have four 1/4" mic/aux input line jacks along with a host of other inputs for turntables, MIDI controllers and practically anything you would want to plug into a sound card. Maybe if you look around a bit you can find a card that makes coffee too ;)

Unfortunately you'll have to order this kind of equipment from overseas (don't think it's available locally) at a price of around R3 400 and upwards, excluding shipping

thnx for the input guys

need multiple mics for recording purposes, problem with multiple sound cards u run out of pci slots very very quickly. and using line in is a sloppy option as it does not have a 20db boost on it so recordings can be soft

you can get usb microphones.

then you can 127 of them on every usb controller.

If you want to do High Quality recording, you will have to use a line input, you will also need a good pre-amp - For Multi inputs you can either go for the Maya 44 MKII (four in) or the Maya 1010 eight input

You have not said what you want to record, choirs or bands... etc - But there are different set-ups for different recording, if you want do vocals and stuff, you need a good front-end with a Condenser mike that uses 48V phantom power...

Then there is the set up and spec of the PC
