Sound problems delay rally
2011-05-01 14:08

Johannesburg - Speakers at Cosatu's May Day rally in Cape Town's Athlone Stadium were on Sunday forced to wait helplessly as the organisers tried to fix a sound system problem.

Just over 1 000 people in the 40 000-seater stadium sang as they waited for the main programme to begin.

ANC mayoral candidate for Cape Town Tony Ehrenreich asked the crowd to bear with them and continue singing. ANC president Jacob Zuma was expected to address the crowd later on Sunday.

The scorching heat forced journalists sitting on the grass in front of the podium to move to a shadier spot.

I guess it must be apartheid fault and racism of DA. :D

Haha, they said they'd now be forced to cut down attendance because they couldn't get the WC stadium at a reduced-reduced price. Now they got all of 1000 people there on a public holiday.

EPIC FAIL, 1000 people 'filling' a 40 000 capacity stadium - they saved themselves money by not going the Green Point stadium route - I'm wondering what excuses they gonna come up with for this embarrassment. Zuma could not even entice the few to stay as they were already walking out when he was giving his speech. May 18 gonna be very interesting!
