Ive got onboard sound, is there really anything I could bump which would of changed it?

just did that, doesnt make any difference.
as i plug in my speakers or headphones, I get faint sound then its stops once the detecting is done.

let me get this right, cerebus, u mean the graphics card drivers or my motherboard drivers (sound) ?

4850 has internal HDMI sound driver thing, have you installed this driver and what's the default sound device in your device manager?

I unticked HDMI sound driver now the second time Ive reinstalled. My sound is at Realtek AC97, which is the onboard sound. And its still not working.

I'm starting to give up, I honestly have no idea whats wrong.

Had the same issue on 3 machines when changing them to 3850's, make sure your sound hardware is the ac and not the amd one. Took 2 seconds to sort the error

There may a possibility that the something has changed in the BIOS, make sure that the AC97 is set as the default in BIOS.

Try Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Audio -> Select the correct "Default Device" in the Sound Playback section.

the sound is set too what it should be set as.
ive uninstalled both drivers sound and graphics, installed one and check then the other and checked, tried it in diff order aswell.
as i plug in my speakers or headphones it will play sound for about 2 seconds when the sound device manager is checking jack sensing.
ive never been soo frustrated.
im positive its something simple im missing?

if i unplugged my front audio cable, its the connection right behind the onboard sound, would that have made a diff?
