South Africa to ease level 1 lockdown rules

Speaking in an address to the nation on 11 November 2020, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the country would ease certain level 1 lockdown rules.

He noted, however, that there is a continued risk of a COVID-19 resurgence in the country, and announced various interventions in COVID-19 hotspots to combat this risk.

But.. but.. MyBB articles with click bait headlines told us to prep for level 5 lockdown and then some.... what happened??

Am I understanding correctly that the tourists can now come again? until next week when they can't?

And still a curfew to keep all the kids at home because daddy don't want anyone to play out in the dark.

Banana Republic.

I thought it went very well. A lockdown again would have been a nail in the coffin. And we don't want to go all-out like nothing's wrong per chance of a second wave (although its debatable whether we would see one).

All in all it seemed pretty balanced. I'm happy.

Happy to hear normal trading hours for most businesses will be restored. Companies should let people work from home until things get better; every few weeks, we learn something new about the ccp virus and this virus is very serious.

Can someone clarify "THE SALE OF ALCOHOL" version for me.

Seems to be saying that liquor will be available for sale on the pre-lockdown schedule, in accordance with the pre-lockdown trading hours.
Also that bars, restaurants and pubs can continue to serve liquor up until the curfew.

I'm thankful toilets weren't banned during lockdown, but I do expect a flush toilet tax soon.
Not if you pay your SABC TV license. Only applicable if you can see your reflection in the toilet bowl.

Did thet\y mention when this comes into effect? Can't see that mentioned anywhere.

Ex cit. What is the use of a curfew between 00H00 and 04H00? Is it when CV19 disappears? None of the laws make any sense. It seems more and more that SA is moving to becoming fully socialist. Not yet there but.... It's already a failed state.

I would speculate that people who are up at 4 have nowhere to go at that time. The 12 forces closure of venues by that time as well as the removal of people from the roads. I suppose this is to give the emergency services a break. I will make no comment on how effective this might be since I have no real data to make any informed assessment. Hence the speculation.

Of course, there remains the likelihood that this is to appease Cele who seems to think that this whole business has given him the opportunity to be boss and he wants everyone home when he thinks a good home time is. A couple of weeks ago, it was a real letdown when the party, having just gained some momentum, ended because it was home time. I was barely halfway through my case of Guinness.

It's wrecked.
Most are to stupid to realise it.
