I would speculate that people who are up at 4 have nowhere to go at that time. The 12 forces closure of venues by that time as well as the removal of people from the roads. I suppose this is to give the emergency services a break. I will make no comment on how effective this might be since I have no real data to make any informed assessment. Hence the speculation.
Of course, there remains the likelihood that this is to appease Cele who seems to think that this whole business has given him the opportunity to be boss and he wants everyone home when he thinks a good home time is. A couple of weeks ago, it was a real letdown when the party, having just gained some momentum, ended because it was home time. I was barely halfway through my case of Guinness.
What emergency services ? Please point all of us to the rush of emergency services related to covid19 or in fact anything other than covid19 after 12am.
I know you don't personally make any claim and only using it as hypothetical.
There is no nationwide emergency and if we had such requirements for emergency services then how exactly does 12am-4am suddenly allow them to resolve said emergencies.
These curfews is just their way of keeping the state of disaster in place. As soon as they lift the curfew there is nothing they can point to in order to justify a state of disaster renewal.
Think of it this way. If we remove all restrictions and have the country resume normally, how could Queen Kopdoek renew her claims for state of disaster without hopefully the entire country collectively going, "WTF?"
