Hi guys.

I'm currently in South Korea, and I will be for more than a year.

I have decided to sign up for a phone this week here as I need one like everybody does.

At the moment, cellular companies can give me very good deals on phones, especially Android based phones. I'm very keen to get the Galaxy S2 ( yes I know the s3 is coming out soon, but I need a phone now).

Just one thing I need advice one - If I go back to SA, will I still be able to use it on our local networks such as Vodacom, MTN, etc?

I read that Korea uses EV-DO Rev.B (KPCS 1.8 GHz) networks and they handing out this Galaxy Model: SHW-M250L.

LG U+'s Galaxy S II (SHW-M250L)

Because of mobile networks LG U+ have, it uses EV-DO Rev.B (KPCS 1.8 GHz) instead of WCDMA and HSPA. It is slightly thicker (9.4mm) than SK Telecom and KT variants (8.89mm). Additional features for LG U+ users are installed by default.

According to some googling you'll be able to call, sms and slow internet, but no 3G.

i buy a pda from kroea ,shw-m250l ,and i can call phone and send sms ,but i cann’t get 3G,can only get 1x cdma ,it too slow to i cann’t it ,it said to that korea LGu+ not same china telecom ,so i hope somebody get creat a baseband to adopt it to cdma2000,thanks a lot

Just contacted Vodacom, and they said it should work as long as it's not network locked. Should I take their word for it?

Don't know about Vodacom support staff, but if I had to go without 3G then the phone better be cheaper...way cheaper (than here).

No. Read first reply. Unless you are absolutely sure it will support HSPA+ and SA (or European frequencies 2100/900MHz for 3G) don't take it.

So, I just had a look at the models of S2 phones, that other providers give and the one that Olleh (KT) gives, supports GSM.

It might be R70 more than the other deal from LG U+, but I saw now that you get Unlimited data aswell, where's it's only 8gb with LG.
