Spam hall of shame

Two of them spammed me. I warned them that they will appear on the list and now they do! hehe

How much of a deterrent are these types of lists? These guys know they are spamming and are fully aware that the majority of the online community HATES spam yet they keep doing it because they know that there are enough morons out there to reach with their spamming in order to make money.

Seems like a rehash of a very old article...i know the list is "updated"
but how bout some new content please :)
Like what action is taken against the spammers?

This is hide your head in shame for a company - how embarrassing

Flight Centre

Hi...

If your planning a trip anywhere with flight centre, don't give them your email. Booked a trip to London last year, since my return I get an annoying monthly mail from them. I agree once a month is manageable but I have followed there "unsubscribe" link 7 times. This is were I declare a gentle spammer as they do not honour my unsubscribe request.

These guys simply don't care. I've send Dynamic Seminars a request to ask where they got my details plus to be removed from their list. They apparently get details from Matrix Marketing. But Brian Jude has not stopped spamming me, luckily Google's spamblocker works well. We need legal action with consequences.

I've also created a dns blacklist containing the mailservers he sends from, bl.dewet.org.za. Feel free to use it in your mailserver or programs like MailWasher.

You must be quite frustrated hey?

Gmail does wonders with all these spammers, I have only received one spam letter that slipped through the security in ages.

Just flag it with Google and it will get blocked on all of gmail.

Spammers put Spanners in our work

From an ISP perspective spam cause major problems for you the subscriber and affects the cost of your Internet access. ISP's block anything between 74% and 95% of all incoming mail due to spam and viruses - make the calculations and bandwidth cost just to facilitate this.

Statistically 0.1% success is achieved by spammers (including those explicit ones), so they make one sale for every 1000 mails sent, that makes a thousand on every million mails.

What about cellphone spam? and spam in our private mailboxes?

My opinion states the digital lifestyle community must arise and creatively and spontaneously deals with this spammers, legislation just won't do it, neither a police force.

I would like to spam a spammer with pamphlets and assorted junk mail, including readers digest sweepstakes junk.

I got a lot of messages from SA Webs yesterday, to "addresses" which are actually message ids. e.g. 40a318e2.1000002<AT>example.com

Phoned them to complain, they didn't seem to care much. Think I might have to set up some "appointments" with them if they do it again. :D

SMS spam, I'm lucky that I have not received any yet, I just refuse to give my cell number, even to the banks, they do not need to have it.

Junk mail, I just RTS all of them. It's their money wasted, not mine. I think I'll do what someone else did and get me some adverts and coupons, put it in the envelope provided by them and send it to them, stating that I think they should take advantage of these great specials. Direct Access is my first target for this. No matter where I move to, they always seem to find my postal address.

I stick a note in the reply envelope stating something like this:

I have some valuable information that could save you thousands in postage fees. I'll share this info with you for a small payment of R50. Since I trust your company and that you will pay me I'll include the information here.

"I'm not interested in your product, sending me promotional material is just waste of your money"

Eagerly awaiting payment.

What I actually wanted to say: I think this spam hall of shame could actually encourage spammers, see who can get to the top of the list and stay there.

I nowadays set up meetings with agents, salesmen etc... I give them an address in an upmarket area and hope they enjoy the ride...
