Just got this email... spam or for real?

"Cell C is currently testing a satellite link router as an alternative to TELKOM's
undersea cable, thus completely bypassing TELKOM for overseas calls,
and this service is completely FREE apart from the South African portion of the call
thru the CELL C number to call : 084 198 0010 ( from cellphone or landline )

After a few seconds, a voice will ask you to dial the overseas number wanted including the International prefix : 09 ( it does not accept 00 yet ), the country code and the number.
( all calls have to be made to Landline numbers ONLY, no cellphone or satellite phone numbers )

To check this system, try it with a pre-paid cellphone first by checking your credit BEFORE and AFTER the call. You will see that you are charged ONLY for a local
CELL C call and NOT for the International portion.

And they ask to anyone using this system to pass this info onto all of your friends
to test the limits of this "broadband" router.

Your friends will love it !"

I dont see how this can happen cos The Cellphone networks use Telkom Infrastructure ..:(

Sounds like the biggest load to me.....I would say its one of those share call lines where the owner of teh line charges like ten rand per minute and gets a slice from Cell C...why no TV ads. If cell C did this the number would be shorter, one of those "084 three digit" numbers.....dont call it and make some nigerian rich!!!

they are using Satalite to do the calls. not Normal cabling.

Meaning from your normal local cost telkom line u connect to satalite for calls to overseas. *interresting* :>>
