I've been thinking about this. There's gotta be some sort of software out there that enables you to compress web pages before you view them, thus sparing you bandwidth as you browse. Lately I've noticed that websites such as www.facebook.com eats up quite a bit of bandwidth everyday. Anyone have any suggestions? :)

My Dad had a little app from MWeb, I think, that reduced the quality of images on a page, that was when we where on dialup though:( Havnt tried it out with ADSL yet, but as far as I can see, it should work no problems. If I find a link I'll post it up for you

SAIX won't allow it cause they still need to d/l the full image in order to compress it. I doubt that they will use the full bandwidth on the international link, then compress it and charge you only for the compressed amount.

There are sites that do this for mobile phones. Have you tried looking at one of them, or something like it?

I think to do this properly you would need a web site that could act as a proxy for you, fetching the page then compressing it and passing it to your PC. That is how Opera mini does it for cell phones and it's also what some some cellular ISPs do. So if you don't mind paying for the web space it should be easy to do.

I know Opera Mini on mobile phones does exactly this. I'm not sure if the full browser does it, but worth a look
