I have a Nvidia GTX260 graphics card that supports HDMI audio if I use a DVI to HDMI converter. I have a couple of converters but I don't have a pass through cable. It looks like this:

I had a one of them lying around a while back but probably chucked it when I cleaned out some crap. If anyone has one for me or can tell me where to buy one, i'll appreciate it.

There might be a couple of options.

Firstly, what size is the socket on the video card? The connector on the battery pack of a cordless phone measures 6mm x 4mm with standard 2.54mm spacing between the pins and resembles the plug in the picture. That can be hacked off and combined with a header stolen from a old chassis reset button to work.

If there is enough vertical space above the socket, the header on a reset button is also 2.54mm spacing and 1mmx1mm sockets which will engage the pins in the graphics socket. It might have to be secured with a spot of tape.

No guarantee here, but I will check the workshop at my work. We have a large number of machines with specialist graphics cards, but no need for HDMI audio, so there may be one laying around. I'll PM you tomorrow sometime with news.

Lastly, the final resort. http://www.xsfans.com/index.php?mai...id=899&zenid=d9436855044a5c2327dba19b5af9161e - Unless you really want to spend money.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to try to find some USB headers at work or at a computer shop tomorrow. My plan is to cut off the USB connector and have headers on both sides. Since they are similar to the connectors used to connect a pc's power led, hdd led etc, it should work.

Also, if you can find a cable for me at work, I'd really appreciate it.

@vinodh: If you are in Centurion try Communica. They should be able to supply you with the necessary crimp on connectors. The two black connectors appear to be standard 2.54mm single crimp on pin header sockets. I'm not sure about the other one though.

EDIT: Just checked my cordless phone - the connector has two convex keys at the top and two concave at the bottom. The connector in the picture that BTL posted above only has one convex and one concave key. A two pin CPU fan connector also appears to be different which may mean that you won't be able to find it locally. You could also look at Dealextreme - they have a lot of different cables and free shipping to SA!

Thanks guys. I didn't get a chance to find anything at work today. I'll try tomorrow. I'll also swing past one of the local computer shops on the weekend and see what they have.
