SPDIF to Blue Ray player 5.1

NomNom, just to confirm: are you getting normal stereo audio as its connected, you just cant get the Blu Ray player to recognise surround sound audio?

Your decoder audio setting should not be stereo, but automatic surround sound if thats an option. Either way though you can change it when on a channel

Yes I can get 2ch PCM and DD5.1, only Stereo and Mono are available.

You mean when I connect the decoder to the blu ray play? No I don't get anything from the decoder what so ever. When I'm viewing a movie channel for example I go to language settings nad surround sound is "On" but I hear nothing, and on any normal channel there is no playback.

Doesn't seem to be related then, no other audio options with some kind of digital setting?

BTW do you still have the RCA audio plugs connected to the decoder. If so, last long-shot I can think of is, power cycle the decoder with only digital connected, maybe has some kind of output detection?

Otherwise phone MC in the morning to see there's anything to cfg to get digital out to work on the DSD1110.

What I did was disconnect the red and white cables (audio) and keep the yellow one in for video then I just connected the SPDIF to the converter. I will try what you suggested now. And will phone MC later today.

EDIT: Powered down all the kit, removed the video AV cable from the decoder and connected the digital. Powered on everything and still nothing from the decoder. :( Will give MC a shot, who knows maybe my decoder is defective or something. Thanks for all your help. :)

I don't see how MC will help over the phone, they'll just tell you to bring it in.
Either the DSTV output or the Blu Ray input don't work, try make a plan to test on a friends equipment
 
Have you connected the decoder directly to the TV's optical port to see if it works at all?
 
Have you looked in the menus for an option to set the audio to digital instead of analogue? Probably in the Advanced menu under Equipment setup.

Logically would be to try find out what (if anything) the decoder is sending out its coax SPDIF port. This would require having access to an amp/reciever with a similar coax input port.

Could still be settings, unfortunately MC never published a DSD1110 user manual, so unless you have one, cant really tell what options are avaliable (me HDPVR2P+SDPVR). My father-in-law has one, as well as an old Yamaha amp with coax digital in. Will check next time I'm there, but dont know when that will be.
