Speakers

dont forget blueray

2nd in his list ... and 7th actually ;)

Well Imagine, the hardware available now all in one package
PS3 (got)
Blu Ray (PS3 does this?)
HDMI (Xbox, PS3, DVD player and amplifier have this)
7.2 surround (got 7.1 ... is 7.2 a standard yet?)
HD master Sound (PS3 does this?)
Good Blu Ray titles (can get them anywhere)
Blu Ray again (PS3 does this?)
52"+ Display panel (not in one package?)
Projector (not in one package?)
1080p (not in one package?)
1080p/24 (not in one package?)
2* 1TB drive raid (got 1GB which is good enough for now)

And its all available fairly affordable, so yeah a PC based HT is a must now. Opens up many possibilities

I've also got a PC hidden in my lounge - but I don't see the need to buy a dedicatd HTPC as I have 90% of the functions anyway? Plus - to date I haven't heard PC speakers sounding better than mine and I doubt (never tested) a PC based DVD player would come close to a decent dedicatd home theater DVD player?

Currently I my setup :

It is linked to the network so I can use the PC or internet. I've got a wireless keyboard/mouse combo to sit on the couch with the receiver almost unnoticable on the rack. All controlled via a Harmony One remote (http://mybroadband.co.za/photos/showphoto.php/photo/3195/size/big/cat//ppuser/7981)

The docking station is neatly placed just below the plasma - as is the cable linking it to the PC below for quick changes. Same with the play and charge : using the PC USB.

The PC is 1TB - which I don't use as I very very seldom stream movies or videos. That said, I can still do it.
