Hey, i want to buy a set of speakers...

Im in the US, and i have a laptop, so i have to buy a sound card too....

Now im looking for overall quility of music as well as power and volume.

I was thinking maybe i should go in the direction of Logitech G51, or Z5500, X540...

If there are any other recommendations other than those, please let me know... i dont mind about the price right now... i just want to see my main choices.

As for the Sound card, i was looking at the Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme audio notebook card.

Are there any other recommendations?

What are you comments/suggestions

Thanx peeps

If you can afford then, then the Z5500's all the way... I'm still saving for a set of those! :D

The only problem is if you need portability, then these are not the ideal choice - no 5.1 set is...

Same here Z5500 you cannot go wrong.

Thunderous base, crystal quality. Get a proper sound card, X-Fi Extreme Music or Extreme Gamer from Creative with only be a compliment to the speakers.

I have the z5450's. Same as the z5500's but with wireless back speakers. Suited my setup perfectly.

So if i were to get the Z5500's, i would have to get the SoundCard right??

scratch the former comment. I am going to get the sounds card.

Wow these Z5500 sound impressive. They come in 2.1 at all?

I've got no need for 5.1

Z2300s would be your best bet.

I bought a set of these...
Very happy with them. Base can get a bit much, but then there's a little knob next to the volume to reduce it if the need arises.

Very good sound, and very powerful. Speakers that can blow womens clothes off ;-) (if she's into that sort of thing)

Then what's the nick for?

I'm interested in my home theatre components and speakers ;) I think I've got most stuff that I want for my home theatre - but when it comes to PC, I've got the cheapest, nastiest stuff ever. I'm just not interested.

Time to change that though

Well Imagine, the hardware available now all in one package
PS3
Blu Ray
HDMI
7.2 surround
HD master Sound
Good Blu Ray titles
Blu Ray again
52"+ Display panel
Projector
1080p
1080p/24
2* 1TB drive raid

And its all available fairly affordable, so yeah a PC based HT is a must now. Opens up many possibilities
