Spectrum auction halted as Telkom gets interdict

The upcoming auction of high-demand spectrum has been delayed after Telkom and Etv were awarded an interdict regarding their case against the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA).

This interdict will stop the spectrum auction from taking place until the case is heard by the high court in Pretoria.

So Vodacom and MTN won't reduce prices this year and Rain will continue to make money out of roaming agreement with Vodacom. Liquid Telecom will continue to be useless in 4G arena and monetize they spectrum they have

"Telkom is seeking a court order that digital migration be completed by 30 June 2021"

Just grant this order. How could Cyril's statements invalidate that?

Empty promises. It's frustrating but this auction has to be done properly. I'm with Telkom because I have seen first hand how they have reduced prices.

Once again the end user has to pay for the incompetence of the current government. The procrastination around digital migration has been going on for so long. I guess they have not received a solid bribe to move forward with such. All government run facets are rotten to the core it’s a circus and the chief clown is the president

Why is Etv in this with Telkom? Could it be a case of them being ready to migrate, but being prevented by ICASA?
