Hi myBB, so i recently downgraded my connection from 20/2Mbps to 10/2Mbps Axxess/Vuma, to save some cash, immediately i noticed my ping to europe was higher, is this normal? am i missing somthing? at first i thought it was a crap server (League of Legends btw) but then i noticed it was exactly 175ms EVERY single game, wich is not bad, but when i was on 20/2Mbps it was 150ms every single game, then i upgraded again to 20/2 and bang my ping was back to 150ms! Interestingly my friend with a 100Mbps line gets 120ms ping in the same game with me???

How many other devices are connected to your router? Maybe you need to QOS and see what is causing the issue

Literally none, and i can upgrade and downgrade at whim and so the ping will change, im waiting for a rubish reply from axxess, but have you ever heard of speed affecting ping?

In game latency is not the same as ping round trip time,it's the time taken for the game data to reach you which could well be longer on a slower line

It can affect latency if the speed is being managed by their radius server. When lines are throttled latency increase as well.

Can you supply a MTR from the 10 and 20 Mbps packages? Speed should not affect latency. So I think it's different routing pools.

Heres the plot, not sure how useful it would be without a comparison but there it is on the 20/2Mbps, maybe this business of routing pools is what im experiencing, seems unfair if it is.

Looks like WA is trying you out on their "new network" on the 20 Mbps; while the 10 Mbps package is probably through their old IS reseller network. They'll be moving their whole network to the new network over the next few weeks.

I think he said Axxess not Webafrica

Ohwell, thanks for that info, what company are you a rep for? ill join if youre selling

They are pretty decent. Might be worth checking them out.

You’re right :X3: I did mix up that detail. Doesn’t explain the added latency... would be good to see a 10M MTR too. Maybe Axxess has some funny A/B routes going on.

And yes, I’m from Web sQuad.

The larger the shaping pool usually results in an increase in latency. Just one possible theory.
