Speed Cameras

can some one please indicate to where are the cameras placed from Rustenburg to Naboomspruit? Don't want to get with a slightly over the speed limit. I can assure I will do everything ot keep to the speed consciously.

If you are going to concentrate so hard on where the cameras are then you might as well just concentrate on doing the speed limit.

Does not compute.

Can they trap on a downhill (Valley Situation - downhill then uphill) or corner with a mobile speed trap?

Are these Cops allowed to use "Bus Stops" ? I have been caught a couple of times fortunately only going around 15km's over the 60Km/h limit, by cops posing as commuters, usually no car in the vicinity? This also on a road coming out of a dip is impossible to achieve.

Just a question. Does the law say something about speedcops hiding in the bushes or behind signs?? That to me is just sneaky. Why not drive around and fine people for not wearing a seatbelt, unroadworthy cars etc, rather than hiding in a bush for hours on end.

I agree!
And it really does not seem like a practical use of Someone's time...i mean how many times have you seen these cops sitting on their cellphones, or sleeping in their chairs while the camera does the "work" all day long? Those cops could be "earning" their salaries by doing some real COP WORK

We have one that hides behind a sign at the bottom of a valley..

Where can you find the rules as they are written? I would love to present these to these trappers next time I see them skulking around soliciting speed fines.

Do remember to let us know how that works out for you...

You have to admit that on most of SA's roads the 60km/h limit is pathetic and hardly practical...and thank you not answering the actual "question"

no, I don't lack patience. I realized that by speeding only uses more fuel and does not get me to my destination a few minutes sooner which isn't really worth the effort. and with me staying within the prescribed speed laws of driving, I am showing that I am a responsible driver and I am not putting myself or others in jeopardy.

but to answer your question "no, they aren't", so waste the precious time and go to court to fight it.

if you don't speed, you don't have to worry about wasting time in court.

LOL! fair enough

This is possibly the only rule that they are not complying with

(b) when viewed from the SME there must be a clear, visible separation between the vehicle target and any other visible vehicle;

so when your car over laps other cars in the photo it is not a valid fine.

AFAIK the camera must not be positioned closer than 300m from the camera road sign.
I think that this rule is only for permanent speed traps. Mobile speed traps can be set up anywhere.

I dunno about that.. as far as I'm aware it's within 2km which is why you will see the boards repeat almost precisely at 2km. Trapping within that is allowed via permanent or mobile units (where clearance/permit is applied for and given). 300m is the minimum distance from 1st board as driver can't break hard which is why some roads which have absurd jumps from 120 to 60km/h in <500m drop cases when u reject it outright.. They have no basis to stand on.

Not sure about radar trapping anywhere being legal.. It use to be that they needed boards or was forced to use line trapping (those double pressure things) but I haven't seen that used in ages and I haven't seen cops try sitting in roads not demarcated either.
