hopefully heaven but probably hell
Just wanted to know what everyone is getting speed wise via sentech cuz I get 4.5KB/s average no matter what time... day/night whenever... International BW.

Local is fine.

myWireless 128, 64, 48, 16 - depends on its mood.

I have seen a torrent go to 12KB/sec today.. and average about 10KB/sec (international). Local doesnt warrant a speed test. Theres no reason to want to test local.

At 6:25 this morning I got 4.56 KBps from download.com. All on a 256k package! My speed ticket has been open for so long "they" don't call anymore - I have to call them.

At 6:40 this morning:

Local: ftp & downloader 12.5kB/s
International: downloader 10.2kB/s, "Windows save as" 12.5kB/s

Doesn't make sense to me why the "save as" is faster than a downloader on International unles there is some serious shaping going on.

I did the test and the result was:

"It fcking sucks!"

I phoned the call centre TWO DAYS ago and left a message. Phoned again last night - still haven't heard back from them.

Keith, you make a point there that I have been pondering for some time now. One "Save As" I get, let's say, 4KB/s. BUT... if I download ANOTHER file in the same manner, I also get 4KB/s on that one. And if I manage to do the same on a third one, it also runs at 4KB/s. BUT, a multithread download through getright seldom goes over 6KB/s - very odd.

But, we're right back where we started - slow speeds and k@k service from the "Call Centre"

I'm downloading a disc image of ubuntu linux (it's made by a co owned by mark shuttleworth - still in preview release). It looked good so I am going to give it a try on one of the spyware infested windows PCs here.

The file is 520MB big, I started downloading at 22:00 last night and it's still got 4 hours to go. My current speed, and remember that this is during the day, is around 9.5KB/s... I think that is a perfectly acceptable speed for during the day on a 128Kbps package. Oh and this is from an overseas server.

So maybe things have only improved on the honeydew tower?

EDIT: The wind blew. My connection died. YAY! I go back to zero. *sigh*

My international download averages out at 8KBps - on the odd occasion it may go up to 12.5KBps. Interestingly enough my international upload averages at 11KBps.

Great for 128 - unfortunately I am on a 256k package which means the speeds suck.

Using this test file ftp://196.43.1.13/test.file my download speeds peak at about 36.5KB with an average of 17.0KB using AnalogX netstat as the measuring tool whereas getright shows an average of 12.5KB

I am quite happy on 128.

How to get shafted in the ass?

Get MyWireless.... it sucks...

2.4K average... tell me friendly cocksucktech support... whats the xcuse today... too busy with each others moms?

Yeah, something is definitely off at the moment. The whole day (Saturday) been running tests every hour again. Best speed was 57k download, with 76k upload international. Real pain. BTW, I am using TCPIQ for the speed tests. Building up my history - already have graphs for the past 14 days and it ain't pretty. One really interesting one was a spike of upload speeds of about 230k one day. BTW, I am on a 128k package.

I tried to upgrade to 256 and asked what I could expect as a reasonable service as well as what measure would be in place if it was consistently not reaching that performance. The reply: sorry, but we can't agree to your terms! I cracked laughing ...

Cheers
