Hey guys

Just for interest sake, could I ask all sentech users to do the same international speed test and see what the results are.

Goto http://performance.toast.net/
Choose Mars Rover
Choose a host
Click Run Tests

No need to paste the test, just give your speed reading and package
Oh yeah, be fair and make sure you arent downloading anything else at the same time ;)

My result:
Your throughput: 47* K / Mywireless 256k

Same test with a friends 512k account on the same modem as the first test

Your throughput: 35* K / MyWireless 512k

lol

Are you guys joking? So your speed come UNDER a 28.8kb modem in the test results?

hmm.. the test doesnt seem to be very fast even for me, but 24kb is just pathetic.

We put up with the speeds because of the large 'read no' real cap. and now they take it away!

their market research guys must be sleeping

Well hardly, like they say, you only make up about 15-20% of thier subscriber base, yet you use up the majority of the bandwidth. Now to loose most of you guys is bad, but they might actually make money off their move, it just sucks for you guys.

Too bad their whole reputation and service in general is down the drain, they wont recover, but its hardly due to the caps.

Loaded 877,885 bytes in 17.328 seconds from Host Rocket server.

405* K on Iburst G9.

So correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like very few people are getting the 4 to 1 contention ratio promised my Sentech. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my modem, reception, tower, pc etc etc because I can dnload at full speed from sentech themselves, so this is purely a bandwidth issue between sentech and the outside world.

If you want to get really scared do the fighter jet test and see how low your average kbps goes down. You will notice that the first few 100k download really fast and then it slows down dramatically, so the bigger the file you download the slower the average gets.

The only way they manage to deliver anything remotely approaching the promised speed is by bouncing everything off their transparent proxy..so as long as you are happy to browse/download from popular cached websites you are ok...do anything else and you are screwed

Your throughput: 16* K

lol think of all the cash I'm going to save on bandwidth at that speed...that 200MB Flexi package might be overkill...hope I can bank my MBs
