At the speed you were going (h), pay the fine and move one... no criminal record.
Stop speeding, 80km/h means it wasn't a freeway and you were placing others in danger.
I stand corrected. Apologies.Unfortunately not. There are multiple 80kmph zones on the m1. Merely for making money

Actually it is a freeway. Stupid speed restrictions on a perfectly good freeway just to pump up the coffers.Stop speeding, 80km/h means it wasn't a freeway and you were placing others in danger.
my case got dismissed it was my first offense and my blood count was 0,8 and legal limit is 0,5. So I'm all food but I'm surely not going drink and drive again... Thanks for the follow up.

For doing 120? It is perfectly fine. The M1 a perfectly good freeway? Must be using another M1 in Joburg than the one I have used.
We have a culture that you only pay if you received a summons if I remember correctly?
Why wait for court. Go see the prosecutor before that.I would actually appear at court. 99% of cases get thrown out or infinitely postponed, maybe yours will too.

I still don't see why it would be an 80 there, the highway is practically fenced up from pedestrians and everyone is going above that speed around that area.Disagree entirely.. u go 80km till wits hill southward, futher north going north (melrose?) and then 100km/h .. only 120km when u go past/close to on ramp to N3/N1 (fourways).
Uhm.. I think for most people it takes self discipline to stick to slow speeds when everyone around u puts pedal down eg centurion cbd John Vorster Drive which is broad for 80km/h but actually 60km/h.

Understandable and noted, I knew it was an 80 zone, just always naturally driving on 120 km/h high ways so I guess I'm used to it.I remember the change over from 120km/h to 100km/h at Sandton in Jan 2012.. people use to ride up my arse.
When I last went that way I saw they still do albeit the changes to speed on M1 Jhb done in 2012/3 and been pretty much same since.
If I recall correctly there was a spate of very bad accidents leading up to the changes.
