Spider catching a bird (photo floating around the Internet)

Spider-catching-a-bird.jpg

I already posted it in the "identify this spider" thread just to give the arachnophobes some perspective on rain spiders ;)

That a rain spider:eek:
Its a golden silk orb-weavers spider

This was the text I saw with the pic

This photograph is of a Golden orb weaver spider capturing and devouring a Chestnut-Breasted Mannikin.
Golden silk orb weavers are widespread in warmer regions throughout the world, with species in Australia, Asia, Africa (including Madagascar), and the Americas.
This individual was snapped in Australia. Golden orb weavers are noted for their impressive webs, which can capture animals several times their size.

And here is one trying to eat a snake..... http://www.webpronews.com/golden-orb-spider-devouring-a-snake-nope-2012-04

And people want to move to Australia :wtf:

Nature :)

There are a wide variety of orb spiders that look very much alike but have somewhat different diets.

I really hate spiders. This is a small sample of what happened in our garden last summer.

I won't kill spiders aside from black widows, mind you, but I don't want the things near/in the same room as me if I can help it either.
