Well for SA at least the answers are fairly obvious the government must finally stop its yapping and make internet access affordable.
If they're going to leave the pricing of the international bandwidth up to a private company the country will continue to lag behind because the masses simply cannot afford to access the internet.
Imagine if the price of petrol was more than the cost of the car that uses it - well thats the situation we find ourselves in now. MIT's $100 laptop is cheaper than a month of broadband (512+) and a couple gb data.
How pathetic.

If the price of petrol is more than the price of a car, that car isjust going to sit in the garage and rust away. That is what is busy happening with our pc's in SA.
Ps: Have you noticed the lack of traffic on the internet lately in SA? What a waste of the infrastructure and all due to Telkom's draconian measures.
