Hello.

I have sections of my database backup up using Navicat (MySQL GUI).

These .psc files have become so large that when i try an restore them, my database server runs out of virtual memory.

Can these files be split? All im trying to do is restore 1 table i lost.

thanks
G

This explains how to restore one MySQL table from a mysqldump under nix.

Maybe you can "convert" your backup to that format?

Out of interest how large is "so large". I've had no problems with 100GB backups restoring onto MS SQL 2005 under XP with 2GB ram...

Yeah, you should never run out of virtual memory, or it is rare that you would. Run task manager, and look at the Commit charge, under the Performance tab. The total is the amount of RAM (physical and virtual in use), the limit is the most you can see, and the Peak is the highest usage for the session.

If the peak is lower than the limit, and you still get a memory error, then it is a problem other than a memory limit - application errors sometimes do this (generate memory errors)....
