sporty car

The GT86 is not a supercar, it's a normal sports car.
Also, how about pre-owned?
The other day I saw a beautiful M5 for 500k.

I drive a focus st awesome car, if i had a choice like you did i would choose a 135i, it has more power than the Golf R, not sure how they perform on the track but remember its bmw so i am sure you can put a tick on that category.

I am looking for a comfortable practical car below 500k that i can use midweek and then thrash it over the weekend on a race circuit.

Golf R seems to tick all the boxes,
BMW 135i not too bad.

any other car out there you think will do.
Thank you

I can assure you now that any comfortable midweek car will become disappointing when taken to a trackday regularly. As you get faster, you will start stress the car, and unfortunately "comfortable" usually means heavy.. So unless you are willing to start modding, the brakes are going to start fading etc,etc.. Its doable, but you will either have to take it easy, or start the expensive upgrade route...

It makes a lot of sense to spend less on your weekday car, and look for a small, light trackday car (Mx5?), that will be cheaper to track, and teach you more ito improving your skills...

And if you bin it, you're not sitting carless!!!
