Springbok Team Announced

Wow Wales was such weak opposition, they even exceeded our worst expectations.

BOKKE!!!!

Nice game. Great win for the new team and for PDV.

I think everything pretty much went according to the script.
What a great start!
We let in 2 soft tries, the first being the worst. Somehow Jantjes and Chavhanga tried to tackle the same man, and never put him down or stopped the pass. Not entirely their fault, the experience in the backline and marshaling of defense is a bit lacking but that will come.
Some missed tackles as well, which will be severely punished against sides like NZ and AUS.

Was also pretty disappointed that we did not manage to unleash the pace of Chavhanga and Habana. The Welsh did rush us though so they were I think consciously trying to prevent this.

The players coming off the bench for the Boks must've been soul destroying for an already tired Welsh side :)

Butch James, number 1 Bok flyhalf, nobody else comes close.

43-17, should of read 43-3 but never the less, no matter how strong or weak Wales are/were, they are Six Nations Champs and the record books will reflect that the new look Bok side under PDV gave them a good going over in no uncertain terms.

We should be more composed, relaxed and even better next time round.

Ha ha Milano you have so clearly become a troll it is not even vaguely disguised anymore...

On the contrary, my post has a point whereas the purpose of your post was simply to attack me and de-rail the thread.

My point should be obvious: it is that we should stop accepting B-side touring teams.

It was exceptional when you realise that with the Sharks and Stormers participation in the Super 14 these players only really had a week together to gel. Add to this the foreign based players who had even shorter and it was even more impressive.

I am not convinced about the front row... but then they were up against a mighty pack (920kg if memory serves me) and held there own at worst.

Yeah, they appeared to bounce off each other and let the man through... it does happen I suppose. The other try too was a defensive blups but can probably be written off to having two specialist full backs on at the time. If I recall it was actually Percy involved in the cover defence for that? He came sliding across and took the second last man but at the same time Jantjes made the mistake of moving in himself, not sliding out, and not marking the speedster, Williams, on the outside. Habana was left to come across in cover but was beaten. So good move from Wales but having two fullbacks on the field exasperated the defensive problem. I'm not sure Percy should ever have come on as centre. Perhaps that was an indicator that someone like Frans Steyn is needed to cover the backline...

I'm glad to see Butch proved me wrong with a great goal kicking display.

The team showed some good changes in their play:
Players cleaning out the rucks stayed on their feet a lot more, a rarity for a SA team, which resulted in much cleaner and quicker ball for the scrumhalf.

I won't comment on our attacking and defensive play till I've seen a few more games under PDV.

I allowed your ignorance to slip in your first post but upon repeating yourself I feel the need to correct you. Wales are current six nations champions, except for a few injured players, they have brought a strong squad to SA, but don't believe me, read it here (http://www.dailypost.co.uk/sport-ne...r-south-africa-warren-gatland-55578-20764327/)

Now tell me you are not trolling...

I'm not sure Percy should ever have come on as centre.
The commentators specifically pointed out that the coach was very upset (you could see him waving his arms in anger) when Percy came on. He was supposed to replace Jantjes but somehow that message was wrongly communicated, Jantjes stayed on and Percy went on as centre instead. Was never supposed to happen.

I thought Jantjes had a good game but yes, defensively he and Chavhanga are real lightweights, literally. I thought it was a good outing for the Boks and I'm sure there will be more cohesion next week for a much more clinical approach. Everyone did OK, I thought Juan Smith was again outstanding, J Smit did a good job as captain, Butch was great and overall everyone did OK. Only obvious problem area was Mujati, he had a shocker in the scrums.
As for our wingers, I just wish the Boks can create more space for them next week. We should be doing to them what Shane Williams did to us yesterday. :) As for the Welsh, flyhalf Stephen Jones and S Williams are real classy players and should be watched with hawkeyes next time.

<yawn>

As I said in my original post, they provided weak opposition. Wales were woeful. The number of handling errors in the first half was unacceptable for an international test team and they were missing key players.

For your benefit then Milano I have corrected your original post for you.

I think someone mentioned elsewhere about "people who feel so self-important" that in this case they feel they can speak for everyone...

lol, if editing my original post makes you feel justified in attacking me then so be it :D

Williams ruled out of Wales tour

Andy Williams picked up a back injury in training
Dragons scrum half Andy Williams has become the latest player to pul out of Wales' summer tour to South Africa.

Williams, 27, suffered a recurrence of a back problem he picked up in training and coach Warren Gatland does not plan to replace him.

That leaves uncapped Warren Fury of London Irish as back up to Gloucester's Gareth Cooper, although Shane Williams could also be used at scrum-half.

Gatland is already without a number of key players for the tour.

Grand Slam heroes Martyn Williams, Lee Byrne, Gavin Henson, Mike Phillips, Dwayne Peel and Alix Popham are all out.

Oh get over it... you and your attacking! ha ha in your ideal world you would have the last say in every post and no one else would be allowed to question, or indeed in most instances correct, what you say.

Bottom line Wales are not a second rate team so perhaps you should stick to commenting on topics you have some knowledge of...

Oh here we go I was waiting for you to try and name every injured Welsh player... would you like me to run through a list of South Africans... well I'll start with three Fourie du Preez, Jaque Fourie and Schalk Burger...

Do we need to name every injured South African player? And every Welsh? Will it make you feel better if there are more injured Welsh players?

My point should be obvious: it is that we should stop accepting B-side touring teams.

I would rather have a team gel against a team like Wales than get hammered against the All Blacks first run out.

So are you suggesting then that France, England, New Zealand and Australia are the only teams we should accept then?

.....and even though these self same two teams were competing together with Wales in the Six Nations?

For the benefit of Milano :

Sat 15th Mar 08 17:00 Wales 29 - 12 France Millennium Stadium
Sat 8th Mar 08 13:15 Ireland 12 - 16 Wales Croke Park
Sat 23rd Feb 08 15:00 Wales 47 - 8 Italy Millennium Stadium
Sat 9th Feb 08 14:00 Wales 30 - 15 Scotland Millennium Stadium
Sat 2nd Feb 08 16:30 England 19 - 26 Wales Twickenham

That second rate team beat both France and England in the last few months...

When half the Welsh squad is out, they simply do not have the depth to field a highly competitive side as was obvious on Saturday. Did you actually watch the match? Did you rate the Welsh side?
