Mvovo for Hougaard and De Jongh for Taute.

This could work for me. Hougaard hasn't really put his hand up yet and IMO De Jongh is better than Taute.

*Not taking anything away from Taute, I think he's pretty darn good, but I just feel that De Jongh can exploit some gaps better than Taute.

Ja, I could go along with that and purely on merit. Bringing race into it is just demeaning for Mvovo and Juan.

Said all along, Juan should be partnering Jean. It's the right midfield combination considering they play together for Province.

Hougaard is a a damn fine player, but he too is being compromised by his versatility, with the coaches moving him from wing to scrumhalf.

Mvovo, Bryan, Bjorn, Raymond all better options on the left wing.

As for Elton Jantjies, I still think he's a season or 2 away from being ready and he will, in any event, always play 2nd fiddle to Johan Goosen. Goosen, barring injury, is a legend in the making.

Lambie must move to and stay at fullback. That's an over rated player if ever there was one but he is young and still far from the finished article. I reckon he could grow to be a great fullback but I see him as a mediocre flyhalf. A lot will disagree with me...

So mixed bag for players of colour. Zane and Elton not world class in their respective positions and unlikely to cement their places in the starting XV long term.

There don't seem to be too many quality players of colour coming through the ranks either, looking at the U20 world cup winning team...

EDIT: It's a predicament for SA rugby cause politicians will always push that agenda. The damage it does the brand is irreversible and irreparable. You simply cannot picks players to represent at national level on any other criteria other than merit, period.

I say that Mvovo should be in the team because he's faster, more powerful and more agile than Hougaard and De Jongh should be in the team because he has the ability to exploit gaps in defenses whereas Taute simply doesn't.

Mvovo I really doubt is stronger than Hougaard and agile, well maybe just have a look at some of his tries (Hougaard's that is). As for De Jongh, I feel he is over rated. He did not do great in the Super Series then he scores a try in the finals of the CC and WOW OMG he is like swerve king of kings, alos he has not impressed me at all with spacial awareness and / or ball distribution.

But hay that is just my opinion. I would not cry if they were included rather than Hougaard or Taute.

Same here, that is why I said that I would not cry if one replaced the other. People calling for players to be included should at least say why they think they should be included

I also said in the other, deleted thread, that I would play hougaard from the bench and start Mvovo to see what he has got, but I do take offence when someone says players of colour should be included in the team without giving a reason of merit.

This disgraces the player imo......

Springbok prop Tendai ‘Beast’ Mtawarira will return to South Africa on Monday following a decision that it would be in the player’s best interests not to continue with the tour.

This follows Mtawarira’s withdrawal from last Saturday’s test against Ireland as a precautionary measure, after he had a recurrence of mild heart palpitations that morning.

“We’ve consulted with Beast and his cardiologist in Durban and although it’s safe for him to play, we decided it would be best for him to return home and rest,” said Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer.

“The player’s welfare is the most important consideration at this stage.”

Mtawarira, who travelled with the rest of the squad to Edinburgh on Sunday, had an irregular heart rhythm, according to Springbok team doctor Craig Roberts. The condition is hereditary.

“He has had this several times before and it’s always been managed accordingly,” said Roberts.

“This condition is not life threatening, but needs to be managed properly which is why we thought it would be in Beast’s best interest to return to South Africa.

“He needs to have a repeat of the minor procedure he had in Cape Town earlier this year and it’s important to notice that he is not at risk by playing with it, and his career is not in jeopardy.”

Mtawarira will be replaced by Western Province tighthead Frans Malherbe
