Hey All,

So I want to learn Excel and SQL. My role in the company is demanding that I get more knowledge on data representation.

Can Anyone suggest some good books that I can get from TakeALot and some online courses or YT videos?

SQL Skills: 0
Excel Skills: Basic (can Sum, Count and Vlookup)

Thanks guys.

Sql is not data representation. You should)look into power pivot or power bi for that but you'll need sql knowledge to interpret your data structures.

No it definitely is. I need to do database management,. Write the query and represent the data through a dashboard.

Nobody here on SQL and Excel?

Follow his advice and look into Power BI & Power Pivot for visualization. There should also be a plethora of YT videos available that can teach you basic SQL.

Check out an IT training institutes Microsoft course list. All Microsoft acredited courses have numbers. 70-461 is SQL (2014) for example. Then just google study notes lecture videas and cram sessions on those courses for a self driven education. You may even learn enough to go write the exams to officially get the "qualification"

Google it, not that difficult. Look at tutorialspoint or code academy.

Database design is very different from just writing basic SQL queries.

You ask for help, an expert tells you that you're barking up the wrong tree and you tell him that he's wrong.

SQL is query language - the hint is in the name. In order to get those lovely charts you see everywhere that represents the data in an understandable manner you'll need a tool like power BI or similar to actually take the query, run it through the data set and interpret the results. Hence, you will need to use SQL to actually get the relevant data, but a tool to represent it.

Also, I'm not sure what you define DB management as, but where I'm from it is maintaining it, structuring it for high availability and redundancy, keeping relevant records easily accessible. All of which SQL is useless for....

I'm using ReDash to connect to my data source.

Power BI can do pretty much that, without writing queries.

Do you have a clear idea of what you actually need(or want) to do? Writing queries and visually representing the data on a dashboard is a pretty open-ended requirement with many possible solutions.
