Well people, this could be on of the signs of the Apocalypse!
Well maybe not, it certainly is a sign of the changing times.

Sqare Enix has just announced that they are going to make the sequal to Supreme Commander 2.
I for one never expected to see their name connected to anything like this.

Lets see what happens...

Supreme Commander 2 to be published by... Square-Enix?
By Frank Caron | Published: November 12, 2008 - 03:25PM CT

Square-Enix recently expressed a serious interest in extending its portfolio to the Western world. With the high-profile takeovers of Enix and Taito, the company has become a powerhouse in Japan, but it still hopes to expand its reach. Square-Enix has now made its first lunge into a new market with the announcement that it will be publishing Supreme Commander 2.

Yoichi Wada, president of Square-Enix, explained the company's excitement with the new deal. "We see great opportunities in European and North American markets, both of which are expected to be maintaining sustainable growth over these coming years," he said. "Therefore, it is crucial we create alliances with proven developers such as Gas Powered Games in order to serve these significant markets better by providing products and services in tune with customer tastes."

Sequel to the real-time strategy title that captivated the genre's hardcore fans last year, Supreme Commander 2 is an unusual game for Square-Enix to add to its portfolio. Is it possible Square-Enix will cease to be simply an RPG publisher and step onto the world publishing stage next to the likes of EA, Ubisoft, and Activision? Anything's possible.

Anyone for a game of Einhander?

I don't know what's up with Square-Enix.
As of yet no gameplay videos of FFXIII have been releases and how long is it in development? They keep shoving us the same old trailer and no gameplay video whatsoever.

Now they putting a finger in a RTS pie?

This is gonna be amazing, Supreme Commander is the best rts out there

This is good news, because Square Enix games usually equals quality.

Not to mention the fact that we might see it also on the PS3 :)....which is in dire need of more RTS games....

As of late Square-Enix isn't showing that much quality.
Also who buys a PS3 for RTS games

In that case I'm afraid you backed the wrong box ....

On the upside, at least you can play Endwar, but you'll need a headset. Red Alert 3 should be coming as well, 360 has it already, PS3 date is "sometime in 2009". Then world in conflict was due to be ported to both consoles, but with Activision screwing the pooch, no one know's if it's even going to ever come out.

I'm confused, it says they publishing it? Publish = make?
