....

any idea how i can get it to distribute the files in to all the folders instead of just the first folder?

albert123, it'll sort itself out.

dont panic

I take it you have the following line in your squid.conf

<<SNIP>>
maximum_object_size 66560 KB
minimum_object_size 0 KB
cache_dir ufs /var/cache/squid 5000 16 256
<<SNIP>>

The max Object size & cache size is dependent on the disk space available.

<< SNIP >>
28M /var/cache/squid/00/EF
2.3M /var/cache/squid/00/FA
1.9M /var/cache/squid/00/FB
4.6M /var/cache/squid/00/FC
3.3M /var/cache/squid/00/FD
1.9M /var/cache/squid/00/FE
1.6M /var/cache/squid/00/FF
1.2G /var/cache/squid/00
2.2M /var/cache/squid/01/00
2.3M /var/cache/squid/01/01
3.6M /var/cache/squid/01/02
2.1M /var/cache/squid/01/03
4.5M /var/cache/squid/01/04
3.6M /var/cache/squid/01/05
3.6M /var/cache/squid/01/06
<<SNIP>>

it is all so dependent on the amount of traffic your squid box has to handle.
This server has about 35 Users and about 7 to 10 Gb a month in bandwitdh.
