Hi,

I am reviving a project to build an audio server on an Atom motherboard. I need a SSD for it, 32Gig. Would be adequate.

It has "USB" type headers for Intel SSD connection, ( ? ), and a mini-pci-e slot available. PCI holds Asus Essence ST sound card.

What might my options be, please?

Thanks.

I stuck a SSD into an Intel Atom netbook, thinking it would make a world of difference...it did make a small difference but the CPU was ultimately the limiting factor maxing out for the simplest tasks...

Just because there is a mini PCIe slot there don't mean it will work with mSATA - guess you need to check that out 1st before leaping....it MAY be an option

Well, it is an Intel D510M0 with NM10 chipset, had not considered that it might not support mSATA?

EISH!!

Seems it does not support mSATA without an adapter, and then it still requires, one of the 2x SATA ports, which does not help me. Was thinking along the lines of getting a third HDD in there, via that mini-pci-e slot. :(

Currently 1x HDD, and 1x DVD drive ...

Why exactly do you need a SSD? You can always have some lightweight Linux distro boot from a flash drive and load into memory so that the flash drive doesn't expire in a few months. I had a system set up like this and it worked quite well.

Well, currently it is booting of a USB memory stick, (Voyage Linux), but I'd prefer a more "normal" long term solution. :)

Thanks for this, was thinking of upgrading my Gigabyte Q2006 Netbook (Atom N2800 1.86GHz) to SSD, but now that I see that you already did this and didn't get the performance increase you thought you would get I think I will not do it anymore.

I had an idea that the CPU would be a limiting factor. I think the only thing I would get it a 7200rpm 750GB hard drive, to replace my 5400rpm 250GB.
