SSD Help

Hey everyone,

I am looking to upgrade my laptop with an SSD and have been looking around for the past month or so, I am just not sure if I can get a better price or product somewhere else, does this seem reasonable?

would really appreciate some input, thanks in advance.

That seems to be the going rate.

Wootware also have it for the same price.

Never had a problem with Evetech in all the years I bought from them, but if something breaks that you got there, you should know that you are in for a struggle, according to the posts on this forum.

I would rather take it to Samsung directly should it fail, while it is still within the warrany period (5 years).

Just make sure to register it on their website when you got it.

What's the opinion on WD green ssd's?

I got myself the 240gb which I plan on using as a boot up drive and then just using my current drive as a second drive for storage. Haven't fitted the ssd yet and will probably only get a chance in the next week or so.

As you already have bought it use it - I have been using a 240GB in M.2 format in an Acer laptop for the last 12 months and it made a huge difference from booting the OS from a HDD

I also have bought the blue 250 and 500GB WD SSD - they have a DRAM cache which should increase both their performance and endurance rating

Great mines also going into the old acer which is only being used as media player for the TV. Figured it will make a nice difference if we run things like Kodi off the ssd.

Thinking of adding 240gb drives for my dell and the wife's macbook as well. I'm not the the most clued up on tech things and just do little changes (like the ssd) when I read and research the benefits. My question now is regarding blue and green. Will it really be worthwhile spending a bit more considering both our units are not being used to hack and overthrow the world but more for day to day work which includes mostly Microsoft office, Google docs emails and browsing... with Kodi and Netflix streaming when we're not using the TV.

I suspect if you look around you will find the blue 250GB drives at almost (within R50) of the green drives. If you can get the green ssd's for half the price then buy them

I got mine from take a lot. .. R300 difference in price. Green at R499 and blue at R799.

Of course I also got my R150 for being a first time buyer lol
