SSD Poor transfer speeds

As for small files:

Copied Arduino folder from C: to E: (the suspect SSD). Speeds were roughly the same as when I read from the drive like the pic above.

The computer box is open and even with the cooler weather, the drive is not warm but not "hot". Currently 47 DegC. I try to cool my drives and this one being on the mobo it is not as easy. Max temp through in its lifetime was 66DegC. Using Hard Disk Sentinel.

I am just making sure my data is all backed up then I will format the drive.

Is Blackmagic not only for Mac?

My 2TB Macbook Pro "Aura Pro" runs at 62-72 degrees even with air con turned on.

NAND doesn't like being cool anyway, FYI.

OK, so the operation of moving the odd 350GB of VMs and not power issues completed this morning. I formatted the drive using the Dashboard software. I created a new volume.
I am happy to report that speeds are back at expected results. I am still not sure what caused this to happen in the first place?

Most common destination and root cause would be that the single SSD has a manufacturers fault. The best way forward is to test it with another SSD perhaps a much cheaper and smaller one to test the drive and the point where it links to the board. I suspect that the SSD is not catching up to the speeds because of a fault within the drive.

Great to hear. Keep an eye on it and keep documenting in case you need to return for warranty.

Check your BUS speeds. It can be the fastest drive but if the BUS speeds are slow it also dont make a difference.

The other thing is, you seem to be copying off an SSD. But copying to a slow drive. The slow drive can only handle as fast as it can, which isnt much really. So it may be slower.

Then you also have to consider what you are copying. Copying a single large file may be quick, but pepper it with smaller files and it will be slow.

Then there is also what takes up the most grunt on the drive, you say youre running a VM? It may have allocated some of the speed to there, so it may slow down everything else.

Then it could also be due to bad cabling.

The WD blue isnt a slowpoke, the Samsung EVO and Pro SSD are the ones to go for though.

Why are we still giving irrelevant solutions to a problem that's been solved?

This was bought from TA. Not sure if they would honor a faulty 2 year old drive?

Thank you to all who made suggestions.

They will. 5 year warranty on the Blues. Otherwise deal directly with their supplier, Corex.

Must be some form of garbage collection/TRIM glitch. Yes that's usually an issue with writing but u never know.
