Hi,

I have a 1TB hikvision SSD, it wasn't in use too much and for a few month it was not being used at all.

I tried to install it on a new server and I can't seem to erase it.
I tried windows/linux partition delete, gparted, dd, any other tools i can try before sending it back?

CrystalDiskInfo saying the drive is good , 100%

Is there an error message when you try to wipe it?
Windows doesn't say anything,
Truneas gave me this message:

[EFAULT] Unable to GPT format the disk "sdb": Warning: Partition table header claims that the size of partition table entries is 0 bytes, but this program supports only 128-byte entries. Adjusting accordingly, but partition table may be garbage. Caution: invalid backup GPT header, but valid main header; regenerating backup header from main header. Warning! One or more CRCs don't match. You should repair the disk! Main header: OK Backup header: ERROR Main partition table: OK Backup partition table: ERROR Could not create partition 1 from 128 to 4194304 Error encountered; not saving changes.

AOMI saying successful but the partitions are still there.

DISKPART> attributes disk clear readonly

Disk attributes cleared successfully.

also didnt work.

Ok you have a bit of an issue :)

Hikvision does not perhaps have a tool or firmware upgrade for this disk?
Very hard to navigate the hikvision site plus i got this when i thought i found the right tool:

drive trashed, maybe from sitting to long without anything being written to it.

That's not how it works...you're looking at years of non-use before its an issue. OP stated it wasn't used much, and then sat around gathering dust.

Issue appears to be a hardware failure, and some SSD/HDD lying around isn't one I'd put into a new server anyway.

how it was stored? maybe got damaged that way
Just on my desk....anyways it's booked in with evetech, I know some people here had an issue with them.... lets see.
Would still be nice if i can run the hikvision tool and maybe see whats going on

My whole homelab is "hardisks that i have lying around".....and no complaints.
If a drive breaks i replace it and restore from backup....no issues with that.

OK, you said server so the assumption was for a business. No mention of a lab until now. I do the same.

Did you also try the Disks utility on Linux for deleting the partitions?
