SSD unusable

Does the SSD show up in the BIOS and are there any funny characters in its name like ZÌÎÎ|vEYžó:Ÿ¼’¬Á?

bit longer than 3 days, I think Flash drives are like 10 years, they stop working if not plugged in
Not true. That's the data retention period. Not to say the flash drive will stop functioning, just that the data might go corrupt and the drive would need to be reformatted.

I can check the bios...drive actually comes up in windows, only under device manager i think it's a ZFS drive.
I also tried secure erase with gparted it was running for 6 hours and didn't do anything.

...not sure the guy works in IT, or has a clue.

Just on my desk....anyways it's booked in with evetech, I know some people here had an issue with them.... lets see.
Would still be nice if i can run the hikvision tool and maybe see whats going on
Would really like to see how Evetech rolls these days. Think it like this, you are now taking one for the team, maybe you break even, maybe you lose. Keep us posted

what was the issues in the past?
I had to submit an online form, and i am going to drop it off tomorrow....

I remember some thread on here where a guy restored his (non-working) SSD using some software, can't seem to find it now but a proper search of the archives might be useful..

Evetech banned from Carbonite

They offered store credit for less than purchase value of the faulty items
Evetech cited “depreciation and use of the PSU” as the reason for the offered credit being of a significantly lower value than the price paid for the PSU by the customer.
Sometimes they straight up refuse warranty.

If you do take it in please report back I would also be interested to see if they are still up to the same old tricks these days.

My bet is it's the E3000 - 1TB.
The driver support is really bad for that chipset.

I've got a thread here with the same issue.

Couldn't get it to work in Linux - but I eventually got it to work in Windows (10).
I had to boot to a live Linux ISO --> delete all partitions --> reboot and install Windows.

iirc I also had to look at Secure Boot in the BIOS and legacy / UEFI support.

The E100 but thanks for the heads up. was considering the E3000 for a linux machine

I think chipset support will catch up in the next while and it will work, for now it's just in a drawer (much like yours) until I can use it (or I use it in a Windows machine).

In theory you might find a working distro based off feedback here (but it's a pain):
