Hi Guys

Can anyone help me.

I cannot initialize my scsi drive in Disk Managemant. It also tells me that the media is write protected.Tried a few things with no avail.Tried jumper settings and terminating the cable. I have tried it with Seatools. Can format the drive, but i cannot run tests as it gives me errors. Do you think it coul be jumper settings, proper terminating or is the drive maybe faulty. The SCSCi contoller card is on ID7 and the drive on ID0.tried the jumpers to put the drive on ID1 to ID6, but is does not want to switch to one of the other settings.

Any SCSI Gurus out there that can give me some advice on this.
Would appreciate it.

Im putting the 73gig in as a OS to boot up with.Going to Install if i get the drive right.

Awaiting your response.

Have you checked the settings in the SCSI BIOS? What controller is it??

Maybe

Hi ,

Go to the SEAGATE site and download the manual for your particular drive.

This will show all the jumper settings etc etc

Make sure you use the correct jumpers for the jumper block ( jumper may look like it is going on but does not make proper contact. )

IF you change the jumpers correctly the SCSI ID *MUST* change.

ID 0 is normally reserved for the BOOT drive ID.

Are you using a correctly terminated cable ? If the drive is LVD you MUST use correct ACTIVE termination.

There are also settings on the SCSI contoller that affect how the drive performs. You must also have the correct ADAPTER to match the type of drive. 50 pin 68 pin 80 pin SE / LVD ULTRA / WIDE etc etc

The SEAGATE manual will give you a lot of this info

The maker of your SCSI adapter should also have a manual available for download..
