Stability Problems

Stable late last night till I switched off, stable this morning for the hour I was on. Then a hitch when I connected this evening, about 19:30.

But it has been solid as a rock for the last 90 minutes.

It would be great to get feedback from Sentech about this.

yes
was solid from about 8 until +- 10:20, then it fell apart again, now it seems ok at 10:35

i wonder if they even trying to fix this issue

but its getting really irritating

The problem has been esculated to the relavent department.

Decided to get anal and make a note of disconnect times when they begin to start.. so
disconnects march 4
2.40pm
3.13pm
4.17pm
(phoned sentech here - they said hangon, then came back to me and said 'Yes, somethings wrong with the tower' - we'll call you back just now..)
4,22pm
4.23pm
4.24pm
4.56pm
been on since then..

Got some feedback today and was told that not many have complained.
Therefore you MUST call in your complaint and get them to log it.
Dont rely on the forum or for someone else to call - everyone having the problem must call in and log it.

Since my last post about this, my signal strength (basestation 126) dropped from 30% to 20%. During a week at 20% I can't remember being disconnected at all.

Last night the signal strength was back to 30%, and since last night, I have been constantly 'Disconnected by service provider', or 'Remote computer did not respond' or 'Network not available'. Last night was so bad I couldn't connect long enough to write this post.

Anyone else from 126 having problems?

yes
last night was f$#@d up
i just switched off my modem and went to bed after being disconnected 8000000000 times in an hour

but tonight its all back to normal
:)

weird thing is last night my signal was stronger than ever

Right, Got my modem on monday, had one helluva b*tch finally getting it to connect to the isp. Worked fine from monday night till tuesday evening, then...

All the info is as follows:

Times: constantly since tuesday evening around 10pm
Signal: 12% (still trying to figure out a decent way to boost this)
Frequency: 2518000 KHz
Base Station: 12 (which seems to be problematic from what I've seen in the forum so far)
System: 256
District: Ferndale / Randburg (Right by MultiChoice)

Please help as the technician's in the call center aren't able to.

jeepers, i'm getting about 1-2% signal from basestation 82 and i'm managing to connect now. *absolutely confuzzled*

Phoned in, and for now it seems to be working.

The "Remote computer did not respond" or "Network is unavailable" errors are becoming part of the daily routine now. They're definately still messing with the network.

I've actually upped the number of connection retries for the dialler in the registry to about a million, since normally the dialler tries 5 times and then gives up.

<br />Do you automatically reconnect? I can see how disconnecting is a problem.. but if you reconnect automatically I would guess you can still browse....

No body has answered this question yet and I would also like to know the answer. With ADSL we can setup the modem to run PPPoe over LLc or Ethernet and usually the modem will have a setting to reconnect automatically. Does MyWirelss work the same?

Well, as far as I know now, the MyWi modem acts like a normal modem and a normal dial-up connection so yes you can set it to automatically redial.

I'm still not sure exactly what PPPoE is and I would guess you would need the ethernet cable (optional) for that - not sure what happens with the normal usb cable. From what I have seen though, you can just set it to reconnect.

Under the "ISP" tab of the dialler there is an option to automatically reconnect.

It only tries 5 times though, before giving up.

I'll dig thru my registry to find the item I needed to change and force it try a million times.

I can assure you guys we are working around the clock trying to get to the bottom of these difficult logons and disconnections.
Verbatim or anyone else, is it possible for you guys to give me your exact distance from Tower 126 as its very important to know this.

Something you can try is using a metal shield, try and shield the modem from 126, reset the modem often and try and find another base station other than 126.

An example whats happening down here.
We have a Tower 82 which can radiate as far as the eye can see (similar to 126 in Jhb).
Now we have several clients in the Tower 102 area that normally receive approx 15% signal and on several occasions, their modems lock onto Tower 82 which is 20 km away and receive a higher signal strength from it and purely because of the distance they cannot logon.
This problem will soon be addressed but like everything it still takes time.

Not like the people on this forum who are well educated regarding signal strengths, base stations etc, majority of clients see 2 or 3 lights and thats all they require where 4 lights on can be as low as 15%.

You guys assistance in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
