I'm being condescending because you offered unsolicited and incorrect advice.

If the gate can flex more than the pivot plate, then a maglock is the least of your problems.

Electric striker plates have moving parts, which require lubrication and maintenance.

Every system has pros and cons. Oh wait, I said that already. Somehow you can't understand that. Pot, kettle, black...

you must be a real joy in person :)

@bwana - can finally change the title to stage 1... :p

After 15 hours without power (transformer blew at 10:30PM last night) + 2 hours loadshedding today, we are free tomorrow.

Eskom stage 1 load-shedding for Monday

Eskom has announced it will stop Stage 2 load-shedding at 21:00 on Sunday and implement Stage 1 from 09:00 on Monday.

The power utility said this was because there had been an adequate recovery in emergency reserves.

"While dam levels have recovered adequately enough to allow for a reduction to Stage 1 load-shedding, there is still some work being done to improve diesel stocks," Eskom stated.

Only one session of loadshedding for me tomorrow then.

He is actually, and very knowledgeable. He wouldn't an arse to a person without good reason.

And FU Eskom, now that I finally don't have an overnight slot you change to stage 1. I bet on Tuesday you'll be changing back to stage 2 so that I can do the midnight run again.

How long would the bottom freezer on a A+ energy efficiency fridge keep stuff frozen for without electricity?

No, just enquiring for future reference. Our power always comes back on after 2.5hours, but you never know.

I once forgot to switch a chest freezer on , was off for 24 hours, food was still hard inside, just don't open it till power back , or something to keep it cool.
