I am sure that's within tolerances - I expect the 12 hour continuous usage limit is to prevent overheating or excessive oil contamination. How much of a break must you give it?
Can you run it 6 hours on 2 hours off, 9 on 3 off, or something like that?
Yeah, I am just thinking of your fridge situation.I am sure that's within tolerances - I expect the 12 hour continuous usage limit is to prevent overheating or excessive oil contamination.
Only perishables in the fridge at the moment are 4 boerie rolls, a loaf of bread, a tub of margarine, some cheese slices & a punnet of mushrooms.Yeah, I am just thinking of your fridge situation.
Apparently it can stay off for 4 hours before you have to throw perishables away.
Freezer 24 to 48 hours. Also can go longer than 4 hours in a fridge if you don't open and close.Yeah, I am just thinking of your fridge situation.

None of that needs to be in a fridgeOnly perishables in the fridge at the moment are 4 boerie rolls, a loaf of bread, a tub of margarine, some cheese slices & a punnet of mushrooms.
The bar fridge only has 3 X 2 litre Pepsi Max bottles in it.
Shopping day is tomorrow.
That photo is darker than the parliament.

My genny is gathering dust, only needed it once, during a week long Eskom power outage, and there was no sun.I only run mine during daylight hours (07h00 & 19h00) when there is an extended power outage - the manual says 'DO NOT USE FOR MORE THAN 12 HOURS CONTINUOUSLY' - and I set both fridges to their MAX cooling setting at about 16h00 - so they have a chance to get really cold before I shut down the generator for the night. The ice cream in the freezer stays solid when I check it in the morning after firing up the gennie again if the power is still off.
For load-shedding - 2 & 1/2 hours - I usually only fire up the gennie if the load-shedding is scheduled in the day - or early in the evening - like from 18h00 - 20h30 - otherwise I don't bother if the schedule is during the night between 20h00 & 06h00.
Gonna need it again, stage 6 is back baby.My genny is gathering dust, only needed it once, during a week long Eskom power outage, and there was no sun.
I also only ran it normal hours, since I like my neighbours.
In summer, I am basically Eskom free, but for some reason my wife loves doing laundry before sunrise. She also switch on the geyser, even though water is still hot enough (considering she uses cold water as well when showering). If it was not for her behaviour, we would not give a cent to Eskom during summer.Gonna need it again, stage 6 is back baby.
Ah you mustn't be in GP than cause summer here is pretty uselessIn summer, I am basically Eskom free, but for some reason my wife loves doing laundry before sunrise. The margarine is only there as I got a tub back in November 2024 for a visiting relative who is lactose-intolerant & cannot use butter on his toast. I haven't used it as I don't normally make toast for brekkies - I usually have Instant Oats with raisins & low-fat yoghurt. You're anti vaxx but you eat margarine? Lol you can't make this **** up.
