Stage 4 load-shedding extended

Eskom has announced it will implement stage 4 load-shedding during most of the daytime hours on Sunday, 3 September 2023.

The utility said it lost an additional four generating units on Saturday and needed to replenish emergency reserves.

Eskom typically carries out more maintenance in the warmer months due to lower demand, in an attempt to improve the reliability of its breakdown-prone coal fleet.
Well that's worked out great so far.

Eventually your bullshit will catch up with you, we all knew that these last 2 weeks or so was just to show off for BRICS. Now that we're back to normal, everything is falling apart, and the criminals are catching up on missed revenue.

Or they were running those diesels units non stop for brics
But thanks to budget they had to go back to normal hence back to normal higher stages running them only peak times or maybe not at all as the diesel tanks are empty

Ramokgopa also said that the government planned to release the Integrated Resource Plan 2023 (IRP 2023) before the end of the month
R100 says that isn't going to happen. I will be impressed if it comes out before the end of the year. Heck, even if it does come out on time, it will likely just say vague ANC things like "The plan is to get more electricity" and "Establish a committee to oversee the plan to get more electricity".

That's funny
and it is the theoretical version. The real ANC SA version is that as soon as the chart leads to a component it gets at best, supplied at 10x its real price and blows up after a few cycles, more likely it is stolen, broken or sabotaged before it does any real "work".

Reality will hit home soon, Eskom needs to sell less power for more money because they can't produce enough anymore. Consider the contract length for the so called "Power Sips". If Eskom was able to recover we don't need them for that length of time.

Corruption killed Eskom, Corruption will kill our Industry and Economy. How many hours of work have you lost for this year?

In 2022 It is estimated that Eskom lost 11839 GWh. In 2023 we are at an estimated net loss of 19282 GWh. That means you can realistically do LESS work than what you did last year.

Now consider living cost and how it is increasing on a monthly base. Eskom has a strangle hold on our economy. I promise you now, if this continues we will have public outcry at Biblical scale. How long can people go without food or drinkable water? That is what Eskom IS attacking right now.

I am not trying to be an alarmist but for f_ck sake it is obvious at this point. China's intervention will not work long term. Corruption will not allow it to work. In short if you live in the City... Now is a good time start moving out. $hit is about to get real and it is aimed at us.

Market devaluation will create vacuum and employment will hit the ground harder then an anvil that is dropped from orbit. Installing solar at your home is not enough. 2024 is going to be a disaster year if we can't get our $hit together.

I'm sure Sparkles will have some nonsense to say tomorrow, right before stage 5/6 on Monday.

You called it:

You called it:
A day early though. He had his briefing today so I'm sure we'll get some more breakage by tomorrow

Something poignant (the original melody is from a russian folk song)
Jeepers, the home page of mybb is grim reading.

This is exactly my sentiment .. 2024 is the amplification of the Zimbabwe protocol. If the ANC win the election next year or form an EFF coalition, the currency fallout coupled with the economic handbrake that is Eskom, will result in a fallout on a massive scale .. I don't want to predict what that will look like .. but I think you had better start stocking up on rice and toilet paper .. as the supply chains will all be severely disrupted.

I seriously hope I am wrong, and the government finally make good decisions .. and I hate sounding like a prepper .. but I have genuine concerns over 2024 and beyond.
