Hi,

I'm having trouble with my current email hosting provider - it takes anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours for an incoming email to arrive, apparently because their mail scanner cannot cope with the volume of incoming emails on their server.

Who would you recommend for stand alone hosting of 5 email domains with 70+ email addresses between them?

The mail server would have to be located in South Africa, have spam / virus filtering and cPanel access. I would ideally be looking to pay no more than R150 - R200 per month for the service. I'll be keeping my 5 websites with my current host.

thanks,

Gareth

Gmail - Simply the best.

Oh wait, for that many users at that price, yeah, go with another provider. Perhaps Afrihost.

Are they amplehost at all? :D No mail should take hours to arrive. If it does, the host sucks.

Dude, go google apps!

5 usd per account a month (or 50 usd a year). That is less than R50 a month per account.

Best thing: you can load all your domains into the same account. Which means that only one control panel for all your domains. And you can mask/nickname one account with other domains in a couple of clicks.

Zero cost for domains even?

How do they compare to Google services wise? I presume this is for email only and that the money spinner would be Office 365.

Ye dude. No cost for domains.
I have a few domains setup and quite a few email accounts on each. Don't pay a cent. Was paying Google R800 or so per annum for 1 domain and 2 users.

Full activesync for calendar, email, tasks and contacts.

I am part of the Bizspark program so get Office free, but suppose that would be a cost if you don't have it.
I tested my account with the native email app in windows 8 and it was perfect.

Not to mention www.outlook.com just looks much nicer than the Gmail GUI.

Make no mistake, I love Google stuff. Just happier with Outlook.com compared to GApps.

Thanks, but it's going to work out to more than R3000 per month to host all my emails with google apps. They also don't host the emails locally, as far as I know, so it's out of the question.

Can anyone suggest a good LOCAL host?

thanks

No, it's Texo.

The best offer I've found so far is from WebAfrica - multiple domains, unlimited accounts and 20GB diskspace for R199pm. Anyone know if they're any good? I've never used them before.

Hi Gareth - I'm sorry to hear that the unusual mail backlog which happened yesterday has caused you to look elsewhere for email hosting. As you know, this is not normal for Texo and the problem was fixed within 2 hours and has not re-occurred. It's definitely not something which you've been experiencing frequently or regularly.

If you'd like to discuss moving your clients to a different Texo mailserver, please send an email and I'll get right back to you.

Godaddy also offers a very cheap email service as one of their premium products.
