Standard Bank app experiencing technical issues

Typical of Standard Bank, they are still in the 90s when it comes to techno. Always giving out half backed products. Even Capitec has better policies.

+1. They suck big time! You can't even change your limits or in contact number unless you go to a branch. what nonsense is that?
 
Finally got it working, but couldn't use the same gmail account old banking app uses to register..
 
I smaak the tablet app. cant believe they didn't test this app properly. brand reputation has been damaged. idiots.

The Standard Bank app has always been brilliant on my Galaxy S2, and last night I got an update that takes care of the annoying timeout bug, and now all is good.

till the majority of the reports are positive, ill just stare at that app update request.

That nonsense is there to protect you, and reduce your exposure to fraudulent activities on your account. All the banks have mechanisms in place to verify limit changes and cellnumber changes. Remember, the basic premise is trust and verify, trust and verify. Banks have an obligation to verify because you, the client, expect the utmost trust when it comes to the safekeeping of your money.

You can increase it by up to 50k if you call them. I prefer that. A couple of months ago there were stories here about people that lost R350k+ due to internet banking fraud with ABSA...

Incorrect. Standard Bank Current Account to Standard Bank Current Account is immediate, whether its a beneficiary or once off payment. You are getting confused with Card payments -- payments into a credit card only reflect after the nightly batch and vice versa.

I can deal with technical issues - it's when it starts having emotional issues that you commence worrying.

There mechanisms in place to protect you, obviously. I doubt I'd get defrauded from my account unless you kidnap me or get hold of my e-mail and sim card at the same time which is highly improbable...
 
I couldn't find the app on the App Store until this morning. It's working perfectly now and it's much better than the old version. Now I can finally add a beneficiary on my phone.

Just a two day delay. I'm sure someone got into trouble for this, but it wasn't that big of a deal for me. We still had private banking, internet banking and the tablet app. The phone app is just further convenience.
 
Internet banking seems to be down today. They are aware of problems and can apparently assist with urgent payments but I'm not in a rush.
 
Standard Bank has gone off line today since early this morning. :mad:
