Standard bank has improved their banking app and it prompted me to create the app code the other day, my password is no longer required. Does anyone understands how does replacing a password with a simple five digit app code improve safety? Also the previous app used to send an OTP randomly at times to my cellphone when I log on, I have noticed this no longer happens these days?

Use Touch id and 6 digit code to unlock phone and SBSA app gives 2nd layer Touch id and 5 digit code.. seems ok... they would have to get passed the apple touch id / pin code protection 1st and never leave phone unlocked..

Haven’t received random OTP unless doing payments etc.

Quite like the QR code login for online banking.. fast and efficient.

5 digit app code remains on the device. No password data sent "across the airwaves" so no chance of interception. App code is the default. Depending on your device, fingerprint and/or facial biometrics can also be setup as authenticator.

and there is alot going on in the background to link your device to the account, so will prevent someone from messing with your account on another device.

There's more to come during the next few months. Push notifications via the app to authorise items - even while in branch. Can't say too much yet - but watch this space.

Yep - coupled with some risk minder software and "step-up" functionality, and creating a triangle of trust. Account/Device/Actual person.

any idea how to remove dashboards from the app that you may no longer need or are duplicates?

Has anyone made forex payments on the app? Can you remember how long Standard took to process the payment?

Damn Std Bank. Updated my app yesterday and now its not even opening. Opens login screen, but closes soon after. Lots of similar complaints on Google Play. They suggests updating fones to Android 8 or uninstalling HMS Core.

Same here, I had to download the app on a different phone.

Thanks. Tried it and got somewhere only after rebooting. Stuck on the registration now - can't get pass - asks for card nr and pin (although the heading says reset Standard Bank ID password).
Later on, re-installed app and we back to square one.
