Star Citizen

Instancing will feature into it, definitely. There is a galactic server that keeps track of all players and how their actions impact the verse, but local areas are still instanced to keep things manageable. Also, some missions will be a once off, so if you are the first to accomplish it you will be part of history and no other player can repeat that mission.

i see i see, awesome. Unfortunately my little 640m on my laptop wont even launch this game :D lol

When i get a new one next year with a 1060/1070, then lekker im in!

Guys, this is something to behold.

If you're still sceptical about where this game is headed, take a good long look at this vid.

I am very excited, but they still have a long way to go. I can only hope that the developers will see their milestones through and not rush the title. CIG should also stay hush on the release dates as it sets unrealistic expectations.

Elite: Dangerous is also evolving, and Frontier Developments are back on track with their roadmap, as Guardians are around the corner and they have many more Seasons (the DLCs) to go. They may be the competition down the line. Other developers may also be working on some interesting, yet unknown, titles which may intercept Star Citizen.

At end though I can only hope that Star Citizen is the game as promised.

I doubt they're in any danger of rushing this. :) Sure, there's a long way to go, but I think the potential is clear to see.

I am also leaning towards ED, can get the game for under R300 on G2A now. But the DLC's cost a bit more, will get the DLC the next round. I must first watch a couple of more YouTube videos to convince me of ED though.

You need to love space trading simulations to love ED. ED (2.0) also lacks that what the previous games had delivered. You need to add Horizons (2.1) to have a more complete experience. However, the issues that the people had experienced with the game had mostly been patched and also balanced. Multicrew, player creation and carriers are still to be added to 2.1, knowing that Guardian (2.2) is around the corner so those expansions are likely to be carried over to 2.2. The seasons are too expensive at $60 a pop, when not discounted.

I own both games, and will only get back to Elite when the game is more complete and on special. I skipped Horizons due to the price tag and that ED did not quite live up to as promised on release (which has mostly since been patched). I have the same opinion on Star Citizen, though the game is still in development I will only play the game when it is released than to experience the on-going development mainly due to the insane updates.

Love the games. I have invested too much time into the X series. It takes some time to get the game going, grinding. X3 was still the best in my opinion, get the expansions.

Now im between getting ED en X Rebirth. Both seems to have there pros and cons. Funny when I read comments etc. from around 2013 about these games and they mention star citizen and say will be released 2016.

In 2013 we still thought an end of 2014 date was possible. I was there...

Is there a new realistic eta ?

Depends on your definition of "Done". Alpha 3.0 will have all of the base gameplay mechanics including cargo transport, trading, bounty hunting, AI, and missions. It only has a single star system but it will be a system that is millions of km across with fully explorable planets, moons, and space stations. It will be enough to keep you busy for many, many hours.

After this is in place, they need to ramp up on delivering the rest of the star systems and expand on the gameplay mechanics. Realistically? Another two years before the game is close to what was originally envisioned in scope. Cool thing is though, we get to play each new bit as it is released.

What may still be released this year is the Squadron 42 single player campaign. I'm hoping we'll learn more about this at CitizenCon in October.

guys must just relax and wait... the more patient we are the better game it will be in the end. Asking constantly for etas etc is going against everything they have said and done in the past. They will only release the game when its ready.

Any sort of ETA creates expectations and we all know (NMS) that gamers will look at that as a promise.

SQ42 was penned for end of 2016, but wouldnt be surprised if this is put off till 2017 some time. Personally, they can take till 2018/2019 to release this game. I will happily wait and hopefully enjoy what is deployed, rather than them rush something that isnt what they were actually wanting, due to community pressure.

Have they stopped the feature creep? If not, then I doubt they would get it done in 2 years.

There have been no new "stretch goals" for a long time. The features that are being worked on are features that were being planned anyway.

Chris Roberts is not in the habit of rushing anything :D. He has no publisher to force him into an early release, so the stuff goes out the door will be with his stamp of approval.

Thank you for detailing it that answers my question. Yeah that S42 will be great.
