I've not played much recently because my PC sucks at SC - but I am part of a epic mining / scrap org called JAWA SCRAP MINING ORG
Here is some videos of our ORG leader Risbo on Twitch, for some relaxed gameplay :)

Soon.

Star Citizen spin-off Squadron 42 will release in 2026 – here's an hour-long gameplay teaser

So star, so good.

Cloud Imperium has dropped an extended gameplay reveal of its upcoming Star Citizen spin-off, Squadron 42, which will release in 2026.

As this weekend's CitizenCon 2954, thousands of fans descended on Manchester UK to find out what's coming up in the medium- to long-future of CI's space sim, Star Citizen. And as part of that showcase, fans were treated to a gameplay trailer of the star-studded Squadron 42.

...

Roberts also revealed that the story will take "anywhere" from 30 to 40 hours to complete, and confirmed he was "confident" it would be released sometime in 2026.

The sneak peak looks good.

A year in which it could be released was previously given, then the revised roadmap started. I think it could be 2026, but something tells me that Squadron 42 will release in either 2028 or 2030, maybe 2042.

At the end of the stream it shows 2026...

That is the date. It is always only two more years with CIG. Squadron 42 has been delayed so many times now, lol. This time around they made a big deal about the gameplay reveal, so I do assume that they are close to going gold even though it may only be in 2026 by their own estimation. I won't be surprised to see, yet, another delay.

This "game" feels like a ponzi scheme. Have been wathing gameplay videos for a while now and it isn't really going anywhere besides people spending 1 000's of dollars on digital assets. I really hope they deliver, for the sake of all the ponzi investors.

I often hear or read something like:

"I don't view it as buying a game so much as funding a dream, which is really what we are doing as backers." - reddit poster

Maybe 2030?

I mean okay, but we're going to have WW3 before we have GTA6 and Squadron 42

Squadron 42 the single player experience. Sure, looks good and is possible to be delivered. Even that crashed twice during Citizen con demo, so yeah. Make of that what you will.

However, Star Citizen itself still is broken AF, still trying to get the MMO part of the game to function.
Server meshing still is a mess, and the server recovery feature so borked, can actually lock you out of the game if you wait too long hoping for server to recover. By locked out, I mean waiting too long before using ALT-F4 can mean when you finally try to log back in later, your character is stuck in the "Unknown location" realm and can't load in.

None of the current gameplay loops have any point beyond amassing credits. Which again can only be used to buy ships.
Dead end loops that are separated from each other.
Many problems exist purely because they want to go hard in immersion. Game can't have too many gamey things.
Heaven forbid we have a game in our game, always has to be some convoluted process of going to a physical locker just to get items. Everything has 10 steps extra vs other similar games for muh immersion.

Which with recent refactor where they wanted to physicalize everything in the ships, revealed how flawed current ship designs are.
Layouts do not permit actual subcomponents to be physically modeled into the hull spaces.

Then there was cargo refactor, again because muh immersion, only to again release how tractor beams are designed on ships means they are impractical for actually loading and unloading cargo.

Which led them to sell the solution in the form of a drivable mech suit with tractor beam feature. Except the big brain designers made it so the $40 suit can't mount or dismount cargo from ships.

Which would all be whatever if the servers were stable, but they are about as stable as a 30-year-old blue haired obese feminist with a pierced septum on her way to HR.

At this point I fully expect RSI to release Squadron 42 only and using some legal loophole scrap Star Citizen.
There are way too many issues caused by them not correctly planning out the systems and how they should interact with each other. Constantly seems like all the seperate departments are just doing whatever seems like a cool idea.
Making it make sense or work within the game is an afterthought.

TLDR.
SQ42 OK. Star Citizen just a pipe dream.

Anyway.

You might not be that far off on the date lol.

One comment that stood out:

Things that took less time than Star Citizen's dev cycle:
The Manhattan Project
All three of FDR's Presidential terms
The Entirety of World War 2 and about 6 full years of post-war reconstruction
No Man's Sky was announced, released, tanked, fixed, and released 35 major named updates, and announced a new IP
7 Days to Die, perhaps the longest early access cycle on Steam, released and full released.

Best hope this is not true. Maybe they should separate SQ42 and Star Citizen. Put SQ42 on Steam, Epic, etc., and keep Star Citizen within their own ecosystem.
