Obi-wan Kenobi series starring Ewan and Hayden announced. Star Trek isn’t even the tiniest blip on my radar anymore.

No. Just no.

It's Wheel of Time all over again. Self-destructive, dull, characters you hate doing stupid shiat for reasons you couldn't care about in a universe you end up wishing would implode and end the inanity.

The only redeeming character in the series is Miller and he barely factors next to the whining, self-obsessed, head-cases infesting every page.
Amos dude...that guy's a maniac. That last scene in the previous season where he gets punched and then turns around before saying: "Thanks!" with that look in his eyes!

I enjoyed Star Wars as a kid, I've watched episode 1 in the Cinema, skipped episode 2 all together and watched episode 3 in the Cinema more recently I enjoyed the clone wars animated series and now enjoy the Mandalorian.

I used to watch as a slightly older kids enjoy watching all the Star Trek Series, Next Generation, Deep Space 9, Voyager and Discovery, not to forget those several movies from that gen. I've watched the reboot movie and never watched anything since.

Good choice, General consensus is that episode 2 is the worst one of the whole saga...

After watching Episode 1 in the cinema I had no desire to watch any of the other prequels. Only watched the episode 3 because a friend in college was a Star Wars fan and it was half price Wednesday

Coincidentally the week I watched EP.3 that weekend SABC 3 started to show the original series, the depressing end to EP.3 made the ending to Return Of Jedi so much more sweeter

I was too young to see how bad episode 1 was. As a little kid it was absolutely amazing. So in my memory it’s still 10/10.

Babylon 5
I watched a few of those back then, they're okay but not sure what the regularly seen excitement about them is about. Did I miss something more long term related?

Star Trek Picard - have now watched 3 episodes, quite interesting and makes up for the long gap. Although not about exploration some of it is space travel.

Star Trek Discovery - thinking of getting the first 2 seasons only (earlier some spoke about the later seasons being about Karens).
But would I be wasting my time seeing just that, not mad about the fantasy "engine woms" and badly changed Klingon faces factors?

Star Wars - when are they going to come up with an actual new story?

I started with a few episodes of Picard, but I stopped. Don't really know the reason, will give it a go again soon.

I personally like Discovery, ST always was left leaning. I think people have an issue with following Michael the whole time as the story is largely out of her POV and she is the "main" character unlike previous series'. She also are introduced as very good at most things. So you just get a very strong character from the start and some people don't like that.

I also don't like the mycelial network all that much, I liked the previous series tech that although far fetched might still become a reality. This is basically fantasy (One of the reasons I don't like Star Wars as much as Star Trek, and then ST pulls this on me)

The Klingon faces isn't that bad, I actually like the new faces over the older ones. Makes them feel more threatening and strange.

I recently went through a few episodes of Star Wars again. Also rewatched the TCW/Rebels and Mandalorian. TCW and Mandalarian is the best out of the franchise for me. Everything will be related to the force, so a totally new story will be difficult to make, unless you go the route of the Mandalorian (which is probably why it is so good).

Star wars.

The universe is far more realistic for starters. All the portrayals of government are realistic.
Republic = inept, corrupt and democratic.
Empire = effective, corrupt and authoritarian.
New Republic = inept and democratic
Confederacy of independent systems= effective, corrupt and authoritarian
Pacifest mandalore = inept, non corrupt and democratic
Deathwatch mandalore =effective, non corrupt and authoritarian.
Hutts = highly effective and literal criminals

Star Trek's portrayal of the Federation is that it is an effective government that isn't corrupt or authoritarian. Where everyone has their needs taken care of by the government.
Which is nothing but pure fantasy.

Hmm, the Federation has lots of corruption. Section 31 stuff. They had like also had like orders for genoside and everything. You don’t always see the politics because we are on a mission the most time. But these things did pop up from time to time. Starfleet is the bad guys in Picard, or at least the few episodes that I have seen

Always enjoyed star wars more. Movies, series and especially games are better for me.
