I think someone is trying to phish me. I got this email today:

You are receiving this email to notify you that you have been chosen to participate in the Starcraft II Beta! Congratulations!

Please remember that this is still a closed beta, and this site, its contents, and of course the game's content is all covered under a binding non-disclosure agreement.

You will need to validate your Battle.net account at LINK REMOVED to finish the registration process for the Starcraft II Beta.

Again, congratulations to you, and thank you as well as your continued interest in Starcraft II.

Regards,

Account Administration Team
Blizzard Entertainment Inc

The link goes to the following site:

Now, freehostia seems to be a free hosting or hosting site. This sounds fishy to me, especially since I haven't converted my WoW account to a Battlenet one yet.

I think I might have opted in for the Beta, can't remember though.

Any thoughts?

Looks legit, of course if you enter your account details on that page they might be stolen... There would probably be an announcement on the availability of the beta. like when they've started handing keys/clients out.

Otherwise, if it's the real deal, congrats :)

Well, I think I will confirm it with Blizzard first.

My WoW login is too precious, don't wanna get hacked :o

But if it is legit, would be awesome ^_^

....I kid, I kid :P

But seriously, I forwarded that email to Blizzard. Let's see what they say.

In the meantime, please no-one enter their details on that site

So you forwarded an email to Blizzard that's suppose to come from Blizzard :p

I entered a few fake details into that (user and password) and got this:
Not Found
The requested URL /engine.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3.33 Server at starcraftbeta.freehostia.com Port 80

My guess, they just stole some bogus details.... A real website, would actually said, that the username and password is incorrect, as they have access to the Bilzzard database to check the details....

Yup, very high likely hood of it being a phishing site.

I'm going to remove the links in the original post to prevent someone getting hacked.
