Starcraft 2 Local Servers?

Its because they don't have an IPConnect or whatever it is supposed to be in Joburg (I see you're PTA). They only have one in Cape town. So locally it has to go to Cape Town first then back, then to whatever server. Thats as far as I understand it.

Na, copa just wasn't very nice about it. I'm on Afrihost, was on webafrica and mweb before.
What I wanted someone to say was "don't worry, you will still be able to play the game with your 384k line. don't feel blue. we love you"
 
btw WebAfrica doesn't offer the best latencies, ie, I play with 110 ping on BC2 with my telkom and axxess account where my webafrica has a +180 ping.
 
On topic of local servers...

Sorry to be the cynic here, but why would we want local servers? In a team based game, where you are reliant on the skill of your teammate it takes about 4... maybe 5 seconds for the "You're a noob", your mother", you're a p**s" mudslinging to occur (usually accompanied with poor grammar). We as South Africans are extremely intolerant of bad/new/don't-do-what-I-want players in team games... In fact, in pretty much ALL games.

Apart from certain FPS games, and only because latency is an issue, I much prefer international servers. People are far friendlier and are more than willing to help the less experienced player(s) out.

I don't see anyone else asking this question.

First: they aren't enabling LAN so we HAVE to play online.
Second: if we have to play on international servers we'll all have to upgrade to 4/8meg lines just to get decent ping and most won't be able to afford that after paying a crazy price for the game itself!

Does blizzard not care about any other countries besides the US, Europe and South Korea?

Of course South Africa only has 2 main cables connecting us to the rest of the world, so we kinda suck. :(

In Australia we have tons of sc2 servers...

Im using a 384kb line on Web Africa's Titan package (15gb) and its shaped.
