Starcraft 2 Pre order

An RTS and an MMORPG are not comparable.

There is no way a traditional-model RTS can provide enough originality to warrant a R 1 200.00 price tag - not even Starcraft 2.

(I am not a WoW fanboi - never even made it through a 10-day trial without getting bored - but I do acknowledge the mammoth scope of the game and the game-world.)
 
Charlie are you joking SC1 still has a large following and it's 12 years old. What blizzard has said is that each episode will be a whole game on it's own so it wont just be 12 missions per side as per most games.
 
Guys, Megarom gave us retailers the release date about a month ago already, i have like 40 on backorder lol. They have to do that so we can set release dates and pricing, even though they havent actually confirmed pricing yet they advised us a selling price, big orders get shipped a day or two in advance, which is cool if you happen to be a retailer and a gamer:)
 
Is it just me or is that price point pretty high. Shelf price is usually +R100 on pre-order.

Legal yes. But its also a bit of an a-hole move.

Chances are that you will end up with multiple copies. e.g. Kalahari doesn't allow cancellations once it ships. And the time between in stock and shipping is almost zero.
 
I'm personally waiting for a Special Edition / Collectors Edition.

All Blizzard games are always so good (except WOW :p)
 
the special editions have same release date gdiza, we just have no idea of price lol, why no one added it to sites yet

Agree on WOW . . . just never saw the point of that one. Do still prefer Starcraft and Warcraft 3. Have played Starcarft so many times :)

Do you have heads-up on the "collector's edition" for SC2?

And I am still happily playing tower defense online, but just can't get past level 32.

Ever heard of something called an expansion pack? That's what these other releases are. People hear the whole "three stories, three games" idea and instantly accuse it of being a greedy method of generating more profit on their title. What matters is the amount of content that gets delivered with each tittle and, from what we have been shown, there is going to be more than enough with each release.

Blizzard has indicated that there will be about 30 missions to go through to complete each races story pack and have hinted that there could be multiple paths to complete each story, resulting in more missions for multiple play throughs. Starcraft and Broodwars both released with 30 campaign missions each, split amongst the various races, and no one complained about that.

When is the date.... it must still be a while as the game has only just gone into open beta.

Why not ? Also WOW had episodes as well as monthly subs. If WOW was as original as you say then why did they need to sell expansions ?

These episodes are going to be 3 separate games, I get them all thank you very much, so will most of the gaming universe.
 
they gave us may 21st, but with a little warning that it might still be changed again.

then it's the Zerg and finally Protoss (grrr) I believe.
 
Totally buying this. Starcraft was epic, War3 was epic, DotA was epic, and this is going to be orsum. I just wish I got into the beta :-/
