Thats even worse. After years of hype if this game isn't something amazing(read not more of the same, like the Beta seems to be) they will have a lot of angry nerds on their hands. I imagine a scenario where they promise lots of cool things in the first expansion to compensate for the boring vanilla first release only to see it ignored by fans.

Either that or a billion people will buy it regardless of whether its good or not just because its Starcraft.

I will buy it for the multiplayer alone. It looks great and is loads of fun.

Expansion will most definitely Contain More Content... Only sad ans shaming part is that if you want to play LAN, you need to be connected to the Internet... :(
 
ill definitely buy the first and then see how the campaign is,and if its epic and worth the full price,ill buy the second,and also depending on what extras the multiplayer get.
 
I pre-ordered the Collectors for 650 bucks.

i am not to concerned with the fact that you have to connect to Battle.Net before you can play on LAN. Even now with the BETA that I am playing on Battle.net there is already apps available to emultate Battle.net for SC2 to allow local LAN play.

So you can be assured that there will be one for the game shortly after release.

Soo... win win.
 
Yea i am loving the beta! Cant wait for the release. Certainly gonna be getting the collectors edition. Where did you see that price? I was willing to pay R1000 for it. Jim Raynor's dog tag flash stick ftw :-)
 
Well I heard the Terran Campaign is like 27 Missions Oo

691... I should change it to about 700 bucks lol. But your right, I would have paid 1000 easily for it. And yeah, for some reason it is the extra Jim Raynor dog tags that sold it for me. I got told by my better half I better not be wearing it in public. She can bare handle my starwars and startrek shirts.

Sometimes I get a few laggy spikes but that's on afrihost's 384 uncapped; other than that it's playable. I'm going to try a few different ISPs though.

Also, there is software available to lower your ping on battle.net which I still need to try.

Um. Not quite. They only need to release patches if they find bugs. What do you think they've been doing for the past 4 years incl. the extensive beta. Beta is up to verison 13 something already. I'm pretty sure the game will be patched enough not to need huge updates. I mean, this is blizzard we're talking about. "It's about time"
 
I have been playing on lagnet 2.0 for a while now on beta.

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble about this game but.......

Its really not playable on any form of shaped dsl, the ladder is highly competitive and the overseas people simply kick the **** out of you with macro'ing their units around you.

If your only into the single player, well it'll be worth it, I've seen a few preview vids of the campaign and it looks awesome, but paying that kind of money for 1/2 a game is silly in my mind.

Don't even try to reason that you can use any of the unshaped IS accounts, they lag far worse then any saix shaped account, and its unplayable on a saix account, I had to pay for an unshaped weba account, made it playable.

O, and even if you created a game amongst friends, lets say, 2v2, yet you are all from SA, it wouldn't help, it would seem that all the network traffic goes through bnet 2, so your still stuck with the lag, we even had one of ours friends dc from the game, and there was noway to rejoin it. Its why I actually like the idea of HoN, wish sc2 could implement something similar :(

I play on mweb uncapped account - no issues at all.

some guys also use battleping
