Starcraft Local Server

Hi

Well yes the problem is a Vodacom 3G HSDPA problem. The only way to fix it is to ask Vodacom to activate your internetvpn (as APN) so that you can get a fixed IP.

There are lots of topics on internetvpn so just search the forums.

Hope this helps!

Found aout about the port forwarding, can only work on one IP address at a time. Starcraft only has one port 6112 whereas warcraft has 8ports so you can host on 8 different pcs on a Shared Internet IP. Hope Starcraft2 battle.net will be much more advanced

thanx, it does, he called vodacom and got them to activate it (After calling 4 times coz the customer doesnt know wut the hell they talking about) Cant they at least train their staff properly

Anybody care to provide a step-by-step for how to get the local server up an running. I'm no guru with these things.

What I did was:
1. download the gateway editor.
2. Create a new network - I called it twilight and simply copied and pasted sc.twilight.za.net into the location field - although the others (e.g Bnet) had those long number strings, I forget what they are called, but look like 01.987.01.113 - those!
3. In Starcraft, on multiplayer, it has as a network: "Twilight", but when I tried to connect it failed.

Also, in the gateway editor, when I tried to ping all the networks, they all failed for some reason or another. Is that to do with ZoneAlarms or portforwarding, both of which I know next to nothing.

Some help here would be really appreciated. The only friend I have who plays Starcraft with me over the lan really sucks and I'm tired of kicking his arse.

Thanks

Hi brevity,

Here's what you'll need to run Starcraft (or ftp://ftp.uunet.co.za/pub/incoming/~Starcraft/)

Put "3rdPrtyFSGSConnect.exe" in your Starcraft folder and open it. Add server "war3.co.za", make the name "war3.co.za" as well and set the time zone to 2. Then click Save.

Then launch Starcraft and the server should be added in Multiplayer > Broodwar Expansion.

Cool... I'll try that once I'm at home. Humdinger I'm excited.

Whats iicup_launcher?

Good to see the SC community alive and well here. I play SC2 on the NA server because I'm from SEA region.
