StarCraftII announced

Screw telkom's cap. I'm grabbing the torrent soon as it's out. Been waiting a long time for this puppy

oh yeah of course.

Anyways would be hard to find SC battlechest in SA I think. Guess not many would be enticed to buy such a game at the time when we didn't have broadband. Still very popular in the Asian countries though. Problem is they're quire expensive. They sell for about the price of a new game here which is about R250.

Just downloaded the gameplay video. I must say it looks really great. Still lots to do with the Zergs. Not much of their units have been shown. They also look like they've done quite a bit on the game. Maybe rumours that by year end the game would be released.

Saw Battlechest at Incredible Corruption up to Dec last year for R300. Went back a week later and it was sold. Saw one at Makro also. As late as Dec, thought it would be available on the online stores also, nada. Really keen to get the Battlechest cos I've got the Battlechests for Diablo and Warcraft.

Blizzard don't export to SA. :(

I'm glad they didn't go the 'hero' route like warcraft did. From Gamespot's coverage it sounds like it'll be perfect! :D

"Battlecruiser operational, take it slow"

The new Gameplay Trailor is amazing... cant' wait to play but from what isin the trailor, it looks as if they have got a load of work to do with the ZerG...

Am I the only one that despairs for the travesty they are calling SCII??

Why oh why Blizzard? Why the hell are they making everything look so cartoony (ingame that is).

I loved SC and I will definately get and play SCII - but it bugs me no end that so many games go the cartoony route. In my mind SC needs to be darker, rougher, more realistic and gritty...

what can you do?

not everything is abt graphics. None of the blizzard games were known for their breakthrough graphics but their storyline and gameplay. I think it's pretty decent from what I've seen in all the trailers and the gameplay vid.

*blink*

uh, huh? Strokes and folks . . .

Blizzard games have always, since the very beginning, had a particular cartoony art style, if it was realistic it wouldn't be Blizzard, and frankly I love that about them. If I want to see a photo realistic tree I've got in my garden, If I want to play some escapist fantasy game I want an "unreal" experience thank you.

Couldn't have said it any better myself : )

lol... that being stated, yes i absolutely agree - i think i did not explain myself quite correctly. The screenies look good. The videos - ah the videos are gorgeous... gameplay and story are at the top of the important list.

What i meant by the realism thing is not photo-realism... just, less neon, less bright. Something along the lines of... of... i dont know, something a bit more grimy and dented and scratched - something that fits in with the videos a bit more.

does that make a "kind of sense"?

heh sorta... but from what I have seen on the game play trailer, it looks ****ing amazing... tbh if you want grunge --- play zerg =p

go to menu on your monitor, options, aka: brightness and contrast, mess around a bit till u find the right settings.:D

Alternatively, if you haven't already, go play Warhammer 40k : Dawn of War, it's very much as you describe, and an absolutely awesome game to boot. Only RTS that's held my attention like Starcraft.
